If you want to stay in your own little world and don't want to live a fulfilling life, this is not the the place for you. We have crime here that is rampant in other areas but on a smaller scale. Of course you will hear only the bad things if your friends are police officers. How many people call the police for something good? People need to look at the whole picture. There is some validity to the dropout rate but in the last year and in the future, that will change. We have a fantastic school superintendent right now and this has changed the mission of our school system. I have a suspicion that if this person lived anywhere, they would be unhappy. I do think it would be good for them to relocate because we have several younger people coming back to Alliance. The ones coming back realize what they left and that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
Given the past financial time frame, Alliance has one of the best economies in the Western Nebraska area. BNSF, who employs up to 1800 employees is hiring now, (conductors average $68,000 after training); Parker Hannifin is back to par, and there are several other diversified employers looking for help. We have one of the premier health facilities in the region. No matter where you go, you will hear horror stories.
