you are not required to live in Murrieta. i lived in both Houston and SW Riverside county. When I arrived in Houston crime was low and the economy was great. A few hurricanes later there crime was crazy. Murrieta still has low crime.

I don't know if the government is racist or bigoted, but the City Council has had a bit of ridiculous bickering over the years. Perhaps this comment refers to what recently happened to a recently voted-out councilmember during his turn as mayor. . .his gavel went mysteriously missing, he was accused of sexual harassment, Code Enforcement was called on him for having his trash cans in the front of his house at the wrong time. He is of Puerto Rican heritage. I met him and he seemed quite nice. It did seem people were harassing him. I would say our city council is often made up of retired military and firefighters, and there may be a bit of "good ole' boys" going on there. The family who owns the premier chunk of property in Murrieta has been entirely unsuccessful in developing the property, seemingly partially due to it not meeting the dreams of the city officials who have the power over the approval process. Buy your own property, guys.
