Boston is worst city in USA
Star Rating - 5/11/2007
Boston is home to the worst drivers, worst roads, meanest people and baddest weather to boot. A week in Boston is a year in purgatory. I never met more stuck up people or narrower ideas than in Boston.

Do not try to drive in Boston. A trip from Fitchburg to Logan is a nightmare and sure to leave you shaking. No one lets anyone else in line.

The restaurants have decent food but surly waitstaff, as if they are a bit too good to really take care of YOU! Stay away from anything near Fanuell(sp?) Hall.

For a real taste of elitism, try to have a discussion with anyone indoctrinated at Harvard or any of the other area colleges. The most attended course appears to be "Smug 101".

I went to school near Boston and remembered it fondly until my recent visit.

I intend to stay far far away. Perhaps it will slip into the bay one day and save America.

Agreed- I have lived around the world and have found Boston to be the worst of any town (I don't consider this place a city.) The people are incredibly rude and uncouth, the town is dead after 11 PM, the transportation is not 24 hours, and, despite having some of the most esteemed educational institutions in the country, the people can't figure out how to queue up in line properly or design streets that can drain water. I also can't comprehend the rampant baseball obsession and yellow fever. The cost of living is greater than that in New York City, and NYC is infinitely more educated than this armpit of a town. I'm counting the days until I leave Boston for good. The food and weather are horrible too, so maybe that's why the people are so god-awful.

First of all, baddest isn't even a word. That makes me highly doubt that you were educated in Boston. Furthermore, I find it amusing that you call Bostonians narrow - minded when this and your other post make it clear that you are a very intolerant person. Please do us all a favor and stay in your ignorant wasteland.

You exhibit, quite perfectly, the alleged attitude for which you sneer at Bostonians. Don't blame people for being educated further than yourself. And I guess, to bring my point full circle, I suppose we shouldn't blame you for bringing nothing to the table.

It is especially amusing to read criticisms and dismissals of Boston from people living in such lovely meccas as uh...Houston, TX. Talk about ironic. Look, Beantown is not perfect. But I've lived a lot of places, including Sweden, Hawaii, New York, LA (ugh!), Portland, OR (nice!), Vermont, and well...several astonishighly hideous cities in Texas. Most of the knocks against Boston have nothing to do with the city; they're all about the idiotic cultural wars and almost always spewing from some right-wingnut grinding an ax about "liberals." Quite a few in here, I see. Judging by what they've written, I'd say that most have not even been to the city. When I was young, I hated the place -- but now that I'm older and have watched the city truly come into its own, I'd say its one of the BEST places to live in the US. And to John from Kingwood near Houston -- thanks for the laugh...and for running the old irony meter into the red zone. Please do stay in Houston.

thank you! I feel utterly lost in mass. Being a New Orleans native, I'm accustomed to that Southern hospitality, and, boy do I miss it. I treat people with courtesy and always respect their emotions, however, can you believe that I not have one single friend since moving to a town near the cape a year ago. Daily, I'm challenged by their blatant disregard for others and outright nastiness!! It's so doggone unnearving and disheartening. Goodness!!

I love Boston despite all of the negatives. Unfortunately everything John said is true though! Once you cut through the gruff of exterior, some of the locals are so awesome that you'll be hooked anyway.
