Refugio County, TX is located halfway between Victoria and San Antonio and its estimated 2019 census data population was 7,289 making it the 385th most populous county in Texas overall. Its county seat is Refugio with other cities include Woodsboro & Austwell whilst Refugio itself serves as Refugio’s largest town aside from mentioned county seat. This area was established out of parts of San Patricio & Aransas Counties back in 1836 – posthumously named after ‘refuge mission’ thanks to Spanish explorers who discovered this region then christened El Refugio late 17th century onwards.
