Not a place to raise children I was born and raised in New York. I left here in 2003 and came back in 2008 to help my daughter with her children. My husband and 2 younger kids came with me. That was the wrong thing to do. New York seem to have changed. It is not the place if you have children and want to bring them up with fresh air, trees, decent living conditions, decent schooling. My babies are asking to leave New York. We just are not happy here. New York is all about who can get the most money out of you. You can have a decent paying job and still not be able to live in a good neighborhood to raise your family. Your children can only get into good schools if you have the money for private schools. Childcare is very expensive. Rents are sky high. It just is not a good place.
