re: Arrogant/artifical people and frighteningly HO I am sorry you had such a bad experience in Scottsdale. I have found people in Scottsdale to be completely friendly and helpful. I don't think Scottsdale has any more pretentious people than any other city. Yes it is hot in the summer so many people take that time to travel. The great thing about Scottsdale is that you are only 2 hour drive to Flagstaff at a cool higher elevation with pine trees and mountains. Perfect for a quick summer get away. If you prefer the beach, many of my friends drive to California for quick weekend getaways. It is perfectly situated close to many great vacation spots.
