Relocating to Chattanooga -
6/30/2006I currently live in Wichita, KS but am seeking a mountainous enviroment. I also will be teaching (hopefully, 5th grade). What can you tell me about the quality of life in Chattanooga and/or surrounding areas? Diversity of people? (My children are bi-racial (Black & White) and I am "White"--my husband and I are separated). Income and housing/rental costs, etc? Whatever pros or cons would be appreciated? I did briefly visit there recently and liked what I saw and experienced so far. Is racism/prejudice a problem? "Thank-you." :-)

Nice--but too flat for me -
6/30/2006Wichita, KS is a quaint little city--but it's too flat--no mountains. The cost of living is relatively low and there are many events and attractions here. However, the state has an income tax and property taxes. Traffic is not a problem--but it's growing and has created newer highways for the growth. It is still the "Air Capitol of the World."

What is good about Atlanta? -
5/6/2006Can anyone tell me what they like/love about Atlanta? I am interested in also the suburbs or towns within 7-15 miles of the city limits. Where's the best place to settle down and raise a family that enjoys nature, outdoors, horses, etc.?
I greatly appreciate whatever you can tell me.

Wichita is "OK" -
5/6/2006Wichita, KS is not such a bad place to live...a smaller city with surrounding countryside/farms and ranches. You experience all 4 seasons. But, it is flat, some trees, and wind...not to mention the threat of tornadoes. I miss the mountains and major greenery of the East coast. But, it's better than Vegas...I used to live there--never again! (Too high cost of living, smog, traffic, etc.)
So if you are considering Wichita...it's a nice place...just a little too flat.

What is good about Atlanta? -
5/6/2006I have lived in Vegas and didn't like the lifestyle, smog, traffic, and too many people, not to mention...high cost of living. I currently live in Wichita, KS but am wanting a change and am considering Atlanta. I know it's a little higher in cost of living than Wichita--but not as high as Vegas. Can anyone share what you love about your city? I like ethnic diversity and plan on beginning my teaching career there. I have no idea where to relocate to...which area. I was planning on possibly the suburbs...not really the metro area. I have three children and we enjoy the outdoors, parks, etc. What would be some good suburban areas to relocate to...I was thinking about Stone Mountain--where is a good place to settle down and raise a family near the city but not "in" the city? I would like to live about 7-15 miles from the city limits...what would be a good area?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. "Thanks!" Cindy

Kansas is Kansas -
2/22/2006I live in Wichita, KS and life here is rather calm. It's a nice place--but the view is limited--flat. I miss the mountains and forests. But, still it's a nice place to raise a family.
