12/9/2008Derek my recently deceased father in law was once listed as the smartest man in the USA he beat John Sunonu with a score of 182. He passed up several positions that would have quadrupled his income. He died severely in debt never having left his home town to live else were. That town is is the mountain west. Just because a test shows you are able to manipulate your surroundings if faced with mathematical or contrived English problems does not mean you are smarter than the next person. I could just as easily say everyone that lives in Idaho are retards as what you have said. The place you choose to live is made by you not weather or sports amenities.

Cost of living -
2/24/2007The cost of houses in Arvin is grossly over stated. The median home price is actually much lower than Bakersfield. The numbers are infact about exactly oposite after the past three years of appreciation. Unemployment in Arvin is also understated! There are two industries in Arvin. Agriculture and Agriculture!! Nearly 100% of the jobs are seasonal and or field work positions. $250,000 homes are often being purchased by families with 3 and even 4 incomes. Other than that it is relatively a calm place to live.
