let me start of by saying that laredoans do not breed and multiply, if you are used to seeing that in you little "one horse town", let me just tell you that we are not the at the same level of intellectaI! But,i do believe that Laredo is not a great place for tourists, exept if they want to get a taste of mexico without the acctual danger of leaving the US. I was born in Los Angels, CA but raised in laredo, for some wierd reason, friends would never believe me when i told them where i was born; because who would change a big city for a "boring" small city..RIGHT?.. WRONG!! I now attend college in one of the nicest sides of San Antonio(Alamo Hieghts).San Antonio is also a big city, and i love the city now as an "adult" but if i could go back and re-do my childhood, i would not have it anywhere else than LAREDO!! it has grown alot in these past years, but is still very much similar to when i was growing up which is not so many yrs ago (i am barley a so. in college). Laredo is small enough to not get lost and know alot of people and places across town, but big enough to not get so bored on the weekends and have different choices of recreation. aside from restaurants, the bowling alley, the mall, and parks; there is not much to do, that is why it is not a turist town but a great place to grow up in. and about the zetas... if you dont mess with things your not supposed to, you wont have any problem, even while crossing the border to mexico, atleast Nvo. Laredo, because Reynosa, MX is a tottaly different thing as i have heard here in college. so before you go taking into consideration what an "ANGLO" guy, from a even more boring town like hebbronville, has to say listen to our locals and take a tour of the town or just look it up online, YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AT WHAT LAREDO MAY HAVE IN STOCK FOR YOU!!! by the way trucking is not the reason hotels are expensive, laredo just has really nice and luxurious hotels like the houses, did you know that housing in laredo is 3%more expensive than in San Antonio, not that its a bad thing! trucking may seem as the main job source in laredo just because it is a border city, but with that comes the inport and export like in any US border towns.and if you dont know spanish, you wont stand out, most laredoans make people feel welcome and help you learn a word or two, and its not spanish that we speak most; not even english for that mater... we speak the "style" or some may like to call it, the language of "TEX-MEX" :)
