Miles City, MT
Small Cowboy Town -
6/4/2008I grew up in Miles City and enjoyed the town. If you are looking for a small rural Cowboy town than this is your place. It is very safe and I thought the schools were very good and small enough to let kids be involved in school activities. The school competes extremely well in sports and has good coaches for this size of town. Every one knows everyone in town for a close knit community. On the down side the city is not very scenic and alchohol is a problem in the town. There is a million bars and the culture is centered around drinking. It is also freezing here in the winter and the winter is long. Also, jobs here are non-existant, but if you find one and like small towns this may be a good place for you.

Lehi a Nice Town -
6/4/2008I have lived in Lehi for about 3 years and have been very happy about the town. It is growing like a weed, but it still a pretty small town. It is a great town for families and if you have little kids they will be surrounded by probably more kids in the neigborhood than you can handle. It is very safe. I have a bad habit of leaving my garage open at nights, but I have never had any problems with theft. It is a nice location because you are halfway between Provo and Salt Lake. However, your are going to have to commute a ways to your job since there is little employment in Lehi or American Fork. The schools are good too. I specifically chose Lehi to be in the Alpine District which is far superior to the Jordan District in Salt Lake County. Smaller classes, no year round school, etc. The only other drawback would be if you are not Mormon you may feel a bit like an outsider, but that largely depends on your attitude, as I know many non-Mormons who enjoy the area quite a bit.
