Reading Hispania Posted On: 10/6/2005 12:28:52 PM
The number on this site are inaccurate. In the City of Reading, the majority of the population is Hispanic. Last local tally was 51.8% hispanic, and 48.4% white. This site might be including teh suburban areas around Reading (Sinking Spring, Wyomissing, Bernville, etc) but downtown Reading, despite it's economic troubles and vacant buildings has a very good Mecixan/Latino culture thirving amidst a beautiful old Pennsylvania town.
Philly neighborhoods Posted On: 10/6/2005 12:15:13 PM
You folks who have moved here and are bashing the city... get over it or get out. Philadelphia has always had a history of mixed cultures, quality health care and community organizations, and lively neighborhoods. For those of us who grew up here and actually know all the great things the city has to offer (from neighborhood grocery stores to the world class orchestra), Philly couldn't be a better city. Okay, yeah, the education system could be a lot better, but other than that, it's great!
Allentown Land Posted On: 10/6/2005 11:48:15 AM
The Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton area is changing rapidly with much of it's farm land being converted to manufactured homes and developments. The old areas of Allentown and Bethlehem are beautiful, and the downtown areas feature many parks, but property taxes and cost of living are rising as the area become congested with commuters to NYC and other places in the Lehigh Valley.
