10/12/2011I hope this isn't submitted about ten times. My post disappeared. Anyhoo...I can't believe you drive in CITY limits at NIGHT with your car doors unlocked. I am from upstate - way upstate - New York and no one would even think of doing that, although in Fairport I've left my car unlocked in the driveway overnight with no problems. I think it's comparative. I feel really bad for you, but none of us would even think of going into Rochester, NY - the nearest city - at night unless it was to a well lit busy spot. And we'd keep our doors locked. So....to this New Yorker, your experience doesn't scare me away. But thank you for sharing.

Safe town with something always happening. -
10/12/2011In Fairport there is always something planned - lots of parades (sometimes I think they come up with any old reason for a parade), concerts in the park, Canal Days - festival type thing. You can leave your doors unlocked at night in your driveway - although most don't. Most of the town is high income, which makes living here very, verrrrrrrrrrrry hard on those of us without a very big income. I moved here for the good school and thank God my daughter is moving this year. I am totally tapped out. I don't even have money for retirement. (She better support me!) Great place to live, great Rec center, expensive as h$%^&!
