Michelle, What are you talking about? There are no "native Southerners" in Raleigh!
Boring? Posted On: 6/21/2007 6:34:36 AM
Hot at times, yes, humid, most definitely, but boring?? If you are bored in Charlotte, you must be a boring person.
Please advise on Quad Cities area Posted On: 6/15/2007 10:31:30 AM
We are thinking of moving to the area (Iowa). I am an NC native, although we feel the need to move out due to huge influx of newcomers in this area from the northeast affecting quality of life, etc. I have always liked the Midwestern way of life, nice people, etc and wanted to know what it is like from someone who actually lives there. We have children and are looking for a family oriented place with affordable housing and nice folks! Any information would be appreciated.
Disclaimer about previous statement, just FYI Posted On: 6/15/2007 10:26:39 AM
The previous statement about Floridians moving to Carolinas, that's not true, at least here in NC. All of our newcomers are pure yankees:)
I think whatever part of the country you move to, if there is a huge contingency of people moving with you, from the same area, you will be perceived negatively by some. For example, here in NC if people move from NY, NJ, PA etc there are those that aren't too happy about that, but if someone comes here from Utah, no one cares.
Nice place to raise a family Posted On: 6/6/2007 10:24:00 AM
Cary is an affluent community, very green, very family-oriented. Plenty of parks, concerts and such for children and adults to enjoy. For native North Carolinians (such as myself) however, the town can be a rude awakening if you are accustomed to Southern hospitality. You will find no natives here, as Cary, in fact :) stands for Congested Area of Relocated Yankees. So if you are thinking of coming to stay, and you are from NY, NJ, PA, OH or MI (these are the most common origins of transplants) you will feel like you never left! Except for the weather, of course!
Great place for singles and families Posted On: 11/17/2005 7:28:24 PM
I moved to the Raleigh area about 15 years ago from another part of NC. The area is great for both singles and families, many colleges in the area contribute to the variety of opportunities available to "have fun" as I did as a single. now that i am married with kids, I have a whole new world of possibilties to explore such as museums, parks, concerts etc. And generally the area is safe as well.
