East Orange, NJ
Living in East Orange -
2/12/2010If you think Newark, NJ is bad, visit East Orange. Newark at least has a plan for recovery. The plan will eventually fail but at least there are some bright spots in the City. East Orange is going down the proverbial drain and there is nothing to stop it. Crime is rampant and housing stock is dilapidated. Socialism in New Jersey

re: living and working in Newark - 9/7/2009 -
2/12/2010I too was in Newark during the 50's. The riots didn't kill Newark. It was in decline before that. My feeling is that the Housing projects fostered crime and poverty. The "Projects" destroyed the private housing stock in the city and the anti-free market city council bled the property owners until they cried Uncle and fled the city in mass. Newark is a study in Socialism. Today 1-2010, Newark is in further decline due to the housing polices of their government. Stupid is as stupid does.
Bedminster township, NJ
2 towns -
2/12/2010There are two towns in Bedminster. There is the area of large estates and horse farms and there is the "Hills" Development. Most people live in the "Hills" which transformed the town about 25 years ago into a townhouse, condo community.
Warren, NJ
lack of Sidewalks -
2/12/2010Warren is in the NEW York Metropolitan area and all towns that surround Warren have sidewalks. Warren does not. The lack of sidewalks makes Warren an inconvenient place to live. The downtown area is a cluster of strip Malls and stand alone office buildings with large asphalt parking lots. The appeal is negative. People cannot walk anywhere in town and even many of the roads are filed with heavy traffic, no sidewalks and little shoulder to even ride a bike. Property values have been falling due to a lack of a town center that surrounding towns all have.
