I was born and raised in a small town in TN and moved to Tampa when I turned 18 because I thought my life was boring and cultureless, and I needed a little more excitement. I've been here for a few years now and, while I've had a lot of fun (there is a lot of partying in this city), I'm ready to settle down with my boyfriend and raise a family. We've both decided that this city is NOT a place to raise a family. The crime is high, there are drugs and strip clubs everywhere (Tampa is known for its strip clubs and strippers), and too much "keeping up with the Joneses" - even the kids want Prada purses. Lots of plastic surgery here too... fakeness all around, physically AND in personalities. We aren't the only ones to think this either... Tampa is VERY transient, people move here for a little, and then leave.

There are good points too though! There are cultural events and art shows and things of that nature here too, although not as many as most other cities of this size.

To me, Tampa is a fun time if you are young and single, or even for a young couple that likes to go out to parties and clubs, but if you are looking for more out of life and a place where you can make close lifelong friendships, this is not the city for you.
