Poor Infrastructure -
6/3/2006Frederick has experienced massive growth in the past two decades. The result is overcrowded schools, inflated housing costs, and congested roads. There are very few decent-paying jobs in Frederick, and most work is found down I-270 in the Rockville/Bethesda/D.C. area. If you're considering moving here to work in these places, be prepared to spend many hours sitting in traffic. A 30 mile commute can sometimes take as much as 2.5 hours. Unfortunately, there are no viable alternative routes, and the primary alternate routes are just as clogged as the interstates. Public transportation is underfunded, inefficient, and unreliable.
