I've lived in NC for over 20 years. One the best things about this state is that you have a choice of three different environments in which to live. You have the coastal areas, the city, and the mountains. Not too many states can boast that fact. Also, because of its location in the U.S., NC doesn't really have the extreme weather conditions of a more northern state (very cold winters) or a more southern state (very hot and humid summers). The climate is fairly moderate year round.
