Denton, TX
Great Fun -
8/9/2008Denton has a lot going on. With two state universities and a community college, it is a mix of personalities. We have fantastic festivals, museums and cultural events, university and high-school sports (and professional sports very near by in Dallas and Fort Worth), outdoor recreation, and dining. I don't imagine there is a personality that couldn't find something of interest within 20 minutes drive of anywhere in Denton.

Surviving the heat -
8/9/2008Denton has mild winters and unpredictable springs. The summers can be long and hot. Temperatures usually stay the mid to upper 90s from June through early October, but we hit the 100s most years for several days. August can be a bear. The autumns are very nice, though.
Because of the climate and topography, it is a grass-lands area. Oaks do well here, but it is not much of a green area. Lawns have a tough time making it through the summers without browning.
