try San Antonio or Dallas area instead...much better for raising a family! Housing is very affordable (Austin is the most expensive housing market in the state!), recreational and educational opportunities are everywhere! Austin is hip if you are young and single, but, incredibly over-rated! There are better communities to live in TX and you can still drive to Austin for kicks!
