wonderful city overall Posted On: 6/11/2010 4:27:07 PM
i grew up in denver...i read previous comments regarding race, its mildly diverse, a nice mix of anglos, latinos, african americans, and some asian..it has pretty much everything you could want in general...sun, snow, four seasons, all outdoor activities available, pretty large city, great place to raise a family...has a downtown scene, mountains closeby, a nice combo of city and nature. It has its drawbacks like any large city, i must say the pitbull ban is stupid, some crime, transportation is pretty good, but overall, growing up there i had it all...zero complaints from me.

Eugene is a crown jewel of oregon...you may not find a better city or quality of life except portland metro....its not for everyone,it is a university town, university of Oregon being a focal point,it is a wonderful place to raise kids, its safe, have a family, and lead a nice quiet life...you can still go for walks late at night with little concern,...its small, but has all modern ammenities needed for most people, a mixture of students, hippies, regular people, and nature lovers, dogs and biking are welcomed, beautiful river runs thru city, good transportation, farmers market, rains alot, but spring and summers are plenty sunny with gardens in bloom...if you want big trees, nice people, artists, student life, nature, and the niche of everything you have heard, Eugene is for you. Cost of living is low, education is good, the job market is not the best, too many people, too few jobs, like i said , not a huge city, that would be the only drawback.

All these negative comments about tempe are ridiculous....take it from someone who's lived here for years, and lived in the valley since the 80's....Tempe is one of the best cities in phoenix metro area, it has the most to offer in terms transportation, entertainment, movie theatres, concert venues, tempe town lake system, buses run longer, more frequent, has the lightrail access to PHX and airport...many many restaurants and and culturally diverse as it can be for arizona due to the university, its mostly a college town, with ASU being focal point, its not too pretentious, its laid back, if you want high society look to scottsdale or newer cities, it has its nicer areas, and older junky areas, but like i said, its mostly for students, artists, regular people, and not pretentious.
