I've been living in Virginia since 1976. My father moved here from Fort Walton Beach, Fl., I would love to return to that area someday and experience the beauty of living on the Gulf. It took me a couple years to adjust to living in Va. After my enrollment at Old Dominion University, the process of meeting new people became easier. I have been an Early Childhood Teacher since 1980- In 2002, I was hired to teach Preschool Special Ed; and recently added an endorsement to my certificate in M.R. I love working with special needs students, but found it extremely challenging, and physically exhausting. I began the new year, by taking a break from the kids and the administrators. I love exploring the outdoors, and being close to nature. This year, I hope to be able to devote more time to myself, and to friends and family.

re: Cost of Living too high and too much traffic - Posted On: 2/22/2008 7:08:14 PM

You're right! Many of my friends are moving over to Smithfield or to Yorktown/Williamsburg area. I like going over the water to Chesapeake...it's a newer area, but the traffic is crazy. I don't really want to leave unless I research other areas, jobs,....

Negative comments make me depressed! Posted On: 2/22/2008 5:57:31 PM

I love this web site, but it saddens me to hear so many terrible things about our beautiful Country! Is there anyone out there who can shine a little "light" on these dark and depressing stories?

That's really bad. Sounds like you better move to Newport News Virginia where the real action takes place! But watch out for dangerous intersections and plenty of crazy drug addicts

I am a resident of Virginia, but just quit my teaching job. I see that you have a few young children of your own. I don't yet have a NY teaching certificate, but may look into it. My mother is 86 and lives in Syracuse. I want to live closer to her in case she needs me there. It sounds like you enjoy the city! I'm happy to hear something positive about NY. People in Va. think Of the Big City, when I mention New York. Linda from Newport News, Va
