A retired teacher, married for 39 years, have 4 children and 9 grandchildren and counting! Lived in Washington DC, Denver, Colorado and Ithaca area. In 2001 we moved to Louisville, KY. We started a non-profit org called GWI that involves aid and development to poor nations in Central America and Africa. We work with orphanages and take medical and construction teams into countries to help in practical ways; also helping them start local businesses so they can help themselves!
Our whole family moved to Louisville, KY and we love it here. There is a lot of life here. I LOVE the theatre, the symphony, the ballet - lots of culture to be had! We went to NYC a lot when we lived in Upstate and while it is hard to compare with NYC culture, what I have seen and heard here is high quality! I am quite impressed.

Couldn't Wait to Leave! Posted On: 11/4/2009 8:50:46 AM
I lived there for 28 years and it was about 20 years too long. We moved in 2001 and I was so happy. I hated the weather - the cloudiness and the LONG winters that start in October and sometimes end by April - the end of April that is. It's so cold. We moved south and I love it! I do not miss Ithaca at all!!! It's in the middle of nowhere and it takes so much time to get anywhere! I do however miss access to NYC. It took a little over 3 hours driving and there were always flights daily. NYC is a place I love and really do miss but Ithaca and surrounding areas - forget it.
