high schools and colleges Posted On: 5/30/2006 1:27:06 PM

Upstate NY and the Syracuse suburbs do have very good schools systems relative to other areas of the country. Liverpool, North Syracuse, Baldwinsville, Westhill, West Genessee districts all very highly regarded. Metropolitan Syracuse actually has a large concentration of colleges. Many of the SUNY state colleges are actually regarded as some of the nest schools in the northeast, and are still relatively affordable.

first, while Cicero is not a city, it's the largest growth suburb- not listed with you, as many of the area suburbs such as Liverpool and Camillus are.

Syracuse- biggest advantage is the medium sized city from which you can drive only 15-20 minutes and be in rural/country areas. One of the largest concentrations of colleges of any US metropolitan area. Relatively low real estate values. Less than a days drive from 3 of the world's greatest cities- Boston, New York and Toronto.

Downside- long, harsh winters. Upstate NY economy still lagging national overall. Tax situation in NYS depresses economic development.
