8/28/2009I disagree on the Kitsap Peninsula. It is a great place to raise LITTLE kids (under 4), but once they reach early teens, there is NOTHING for them to do. So they get into the pot scene which is big here. They dont allow teenagers to be in the malls or hang out at movie theaters, so they are forced to hang out at friends houses and do whatever kids do unsupervised at someones house. Can you say house party every night. I know. I live by a few.
The place is very crowded yet, they do nothing to improve the commerce of the area. There is a mall but it is comparative to a mall in 1987 in a larger city. All of the movie theatres are old, circa 1985. They actually are planning on ripping out the only one we do have to put in a hunting store (retarded). If you do plan to go shopping you have to drive an hour and a half over to Seattle to do so. That gets old.
The parents here let there kids do whatever the hell they want so as they dont bother them. I typically see parents washing their teen kids cars while they are inside playing video games. It is a culture of "lets not ruin or kids confidence, by putting them in a position to possibly fail".
Dont even get me started on Bremerton. They build a 54million tunnel on tax payers dollars to "funnel" ferry traffic away from downtown Bremerton to ease congestion. Anyone that ever has been to downtown Bremerton knows there is no traffic in downtown Bremerton. It looks like I am Legend down there. 75% of the shops are empty.
Most of the people that work in the service industry need to take a customer service class. I receive poor service at restaurants (the few there are), stores, etc.
The only sort of fun thing they do is the Kitsap Fair, but it is country music and rodeo oriented and my family is not into rodeos.
I have been to the Napa/Santa Rosa area and it DESTROYS this area in terms of people, places,culture and commerce.
There is also nowhere to work in Kitsap County unless its at the Naval Base. Lose your job in Kitsap County and you will have to spend 2 hours each way getting to Seattle.
Also, it snows alot more every year and they dont plow for days. You end up getting stuck at home for days. All because they dont want to buy plows. Too busy spending $54mill on a tunnel we didnt need.
Silverdale, Bremerton..A great place to live..absolutely not.. Maybe an average place to live for slackers that dont want to leave their house.
