Spokane is a really nice place -
10/26/2010We moved from Las Vegas to Boise about 15 years ago. Found out that we didn't really like that area and moved up here about 4 years ago. It is much better than Boise. A hair more expensive, but it is worth it. I have been everywhere, even overseas. Some areas are bad, but most of the areas are really nice. We own a business and during the last two years we have done really well. Not too much new construction though, but we adapted. The weather is nice, just not the winter of 07 or 08, but last year was nice. We do construction and we are still working now and it is the end of Oct. here. If you are looking for a nice place with decent weather, this is it. Not too many bugs, not too hot, the people are nice, no traffic really, decent schools, close to nature and tons of things to do. This is the place that we came to and could actually afford to buy a home. I think that our home is worth the same as when we bought it. The taxes are high, but if you work for someone else, they are decent. If you are considering Spokane, it is a good place.

Really don't waste your time -
3/15/2007HP is pulling out of here, and lay-offs or 3/4 of the workforce proves it. Micron, the biggest employer is pulling out, due to the under-educated workforce. They are doing the 12 inch discs in Virginia. The housing is way over priced and the wages are really low. The magazines are wrong, because it takes years to break into the good ole boy network. Traffic is way out of control. Road rage is common. We just moved from the area after 10 years. At first we moved there with an open mind. Things moved a little bit slower, but we thought it was worth it. Then, the more we tried to get ahead, the more we kept getting knocked down. We tried making friends, but they all ended up being back-stabbers and seemed to have their own alterior motives. Like they never heard of friendship. The way they like to do things is back-asswards. And they waste your money doing it. My general impression is that they are very repressed people and are extremely passive-aggressive. I can see why considering Boise and the surrounding areas have always been very poor, so when the land rush happened, all these poor people started making fortunes selling their land. All of Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, etc. used to be farm land. And yes, they think YOU ARE stupid. Even when you have a more efficient, common-sense way of doing things. Not all people in Boise are like that, but I'd have to say at least 70% ARE. Boise was a harder place to get out of than Las Vegas. Being unexposed to different types of people is another handicap these people have. I have never been stared at so much. People almost get in traffic accidents they stare so hard. It's very rude and makes you feel uncomfortable. If I stared like that where I grew up, you would almost definitely be asked, "What are you staring at?" "You gotta problem?" I've even had old men let a door shut in my face instead of holding it open because I look a little on the ethnic side. Even though I'm white and Asian. I just happen to work outside for a living and hence am very tan. What comes with being nouve-riche is the big shot attitude. When they are no better than everyone else, myself included. I did get along with alot of the older people who have gone out in the world and have seen a bit of life and can appreciate where I'm coming from. There's a reason why my dad did not want to move back to Boise after he retired from the Air Force. He said, no good-paying jobs and after he'd been living among so many different types of people, Idaho just di
