High Taxes ? Poor Schools ? - responce to 'Jessica -
10/9/2007Not sure where Jessica gets her 'high taxes' information - but for the area - only neighboring Berkley's total taxes are lower (their city tax is actually higher) - Pleasant Ridge, Huntington Woods, Ferndale, Birmingham are all significantly higher - as is both Madison Hts., Hazel Park, Oak Park & Clawson. This info. is available via Oakland County website.
As for school performance and infrastructure improvements - Royal Oak is headed in the right direction as test scores and building improvements indicate. I wish people who complain would at least have their facts straight.

9/7/2007Our city has over 50 parks, typically all are within walking distance of
one's home, it is a pedesrian frendly community & designated as a 'Tree City USA' by the National Arbor Day Foundation, we have a viberant downtown with numerious resturants, coffee houses and entertainment choices - including a movie theater & comedy club. The Detroit Zoo is located within our city limits as is nationally ranked Beaumont Hospital - Royal Oak is centrally located and enjoys close access to both I-75 & I-696 hwy's. It's a great place to live.
