8/22/2018Yes, it is a lot hotter than the stats and guides say. We have been planning to move there sometime. We have visitedt several times in winter so July was a surprise. What amazed me was the sense of isolation. There is no getting away to for a change. Just knowing it is two days or more to reach a major city is stiffling. I anticipate a long retirement as caregiver. Getting away for a short break is hard now, but will be impossible to when I drive 4 days back and forth for a change of scenery. I do not look forward to bussing out of state. Wish the rail service still came to Boise. Guess flying is the only way out.

San Jose is roughly 50 per cent Vietnamese and other asian. Thanks to all those assembly jobs that had to be done here in 2000 but are now done in Asia. It does not make a cohesive community. New immigrants are engrossed with getting settled, establishing ties within their nationality and families. After 30 years I now do not know my neighbor, no one will say hi on the street, my favorite market and restaurants are gone with all the finer local stores. It is not a good place to live. Don't ask about driving. Cheating is expected, especially when taking the written driving test.
