Germantown is a great suburb of Milwaukee. The cost of living is still high, but taxes in Washington County tend to be less than in Milwaukee County. There is convinient access to great shopping and several restaurants, yet G-town itself still has a real small town feel!

Housing costs and property taxes in the Milwaukee WI area are incredibly high and I have never been able to figure out why. You're not paying for nice weather, a lot of arts & culture, etc. like you might be in other cities.
