8/18/2009The city is primarily residential with nice neighborhoods and reasonably priced homes. It has experienced a significant increase in population over the last few years.

Lancaster, TX
Our Best Decision -
3/6/2009As long-time renters, my wife and I finally saved up enough to purchase our first home. We looked at many areas, but fell in love with a home in Lancaster's Rolling Meadows subdivision. It was just the right size for us and significantly reduced the commute times to and from our jobs in Waxahachie and Duncanville. The price was right and we have never regretted our decision to move here. Rolling Meadows is a close-knit neighborhood with regular events taking place all the time. There is an active Homeowners Association (HOA) that is community-oriented and not overbearing and intrusive the way some are in other parts of the Dallas area. We don't have any children, but many of our neighbors do and most of them are active in their children's schools. I have frequently heard that the schools are definitely improving and are much better than some of the generalizations often made about them.
To sum it up, we love our house, the neighborhood, and the city. If you want a lot of bang for your buck, then Lancaster a great choice. I wholeheartedly agree with the earlier comment made by Chris, Lancaster is only now starting to realize its true potential and has a bright future ahead!
