11/19/2016I agree with you 100%!!! I moved to Tucson a year ago, thinking it would be a nice place to retire. I am only 57 years old but I am disabled, so I bought a handicapped accessible house here, paid cash for it, MY ENTIRE LIFE SAVINGS. In a nutshell, it was the biggest mistake I ever made in my life. The Main reasons for my regrets are the following: poverty, ignorance, alcoholism, drugs, corruption in government and especially in the police department, racism, the extreme dry heat, culture??? Please define culture for me. You have to budget in water, meaning potable, drinkable water, that preferably doesn't smell like something "strange". If you are wealthy and can afford to buy water from somewhere else, and if you can afford to escape from June through September, you might be happy here. If not, stay where you are. It has to be better than this.

11/12/2016I thank you for your post. I have lived here for one year thinking this might be a good place to retire. I am from Boston, a liberal bastion, and a center of intelligence, culture, and human decency. I have not found that here. I will bite my tongue so as to not offend anyone. If you want culture and decency, look elsewhere.
