Is this area that backwards and racist? -
1/1/2009We want to move back to NJ from PA and were looking into this area. After the "Nazi cake incidence" there is no way I would bring my children into an area that had those kinds of people. Are these people representative of western NJ, Holland township, a specific neighborhood or just an isolated case of in-breeds?

12/3/2008The farms that are being torn down are not being torn down by NY/NJ people it's greedy Macungie people selling to developers and tearing down their properties!
The NJ/NY people are paying taxes to develop this area: schools, roads etc., spending money to pay your salaries: groceries, banks, gas stations... and not taking your jobs! How much more greedy can you get?
Its pronounced "ak-cent" and SPELLED "accent" not "axcent" among the other mispellings
Lower Macungie, PA
Not a good place to live -
12/3/2008Lower Macungie is not a comfortable place to live unless you are very religious (born-again evangelical Christian), into hunting and have lived here all your life (Grandparents must have been born within a 5 mile radius of where you currently live).
It is not a friendly or welcoming area. The people here are very afraid of change or the unfamiliar.
We moved to the Ancient Oaks neighborhood 3 years ago, I have never met a more unfriendly, bitter and nasty group of people. None were welcoming, smiled or introduced themselves although they have allowed their dogs to defacate in our yard with no problem. We have tried to be friendly to everyone and introduced ourselves. Our next door neighbor grunted and ignored us. The only time he spoke to us in the 3 years has been to yell at us that he's lived here for 40 years and he didn't want a fence next to his property when I was gardening - not putting up a fence - well within my own yard.
Every couple of weeks when taking my child to a park I will get approached by someone asking me what church I go to or to hear their "testimony in Jesus name".
I have been told that school here closes for the first day of hunting season.
The list of incidents goes on and on....
Please do yourself a favor - if you are considering moving to the Lehigh valley area because it seems like an inexpensive and safe place to raise a family - reconsider. Its not worth it to live in such a restrictive, backwards environment. We are counting the minutes until we can move.
