Moving from Boston. Don't mind the cold but looking for a more affordable city with more sunshine. Any suggestions for a suburb of Boulder?

The best point about Dedham is its convenience to Boston's culture. However, the long winters here and Dedham's total lack of civic pride have me searching for another place to live. Any suggestions for a medium city with a shorter winter and more sunshine yet affordable and liberal.
