Albuquerque,Horrible place!
- 3/5/2007
Albuquerque is mostly Gang infested, very dirty, way too much crime (unreported & reported). Very windy, winter nights in the upper 10's and summer highs in the low 100's... Don't be fooled...the entire west is booming. Most people who have been here for more than 3 years would agree: There are no nice neighborhood in Albuquerque, and there is a lot of hostility towards people that do not speak spanish. Good luck!

third world country

It is a nightmare. Lot's of litter(particularly broken beer bottles), lot's of crime(most people don't even bother reporting it because the police is too busy),violent crime is perverse(burning people, driving over people, killing of Police officers is common here), gangs everywhere you look(the town sounds and looks like a rap music video), and the weather is HARSH(low 20's at night during the winter, 100's in the summer,in anycase it RARELY rains(once or twice a year), and mostly it is very windy(45-65 mph is common).
The air quality is poor, particularly during the winter months( there is so much smoke in the air from fireplaces that your eyes will hurt).
The city looks very unkept. We do have a great mayor that is trying his best to bring this area into the 21 century, but the general attitude from the citizens is one of provincial apathy.
Please visit first, and DO not listen to real estate agents. There is a housing bubble in progress fuelled by Californians and Texans moving here.
Good luck!

New Mexico ranks #1 in crime
- 12/15/2005
I have been living in New Mexico for 15 years. It is truly a very unsafe place. From small towns to large cities, the gang and drug problem is out of control. New Mexico ranks # 1 in crime, according to the Morgan Quitno Press team. I have lived in many large cities across the West, and Albuquerque defenetly feels and looks the unsafest/dirtiest. I am relocating. If you are planning on moving here, please make sure to check vital statistics from various sources, and please stay away from information found in travel brochures. Good luck in your search.
