The housing market has come to a screeching halt in this area. We have a ton of houses for sale and no buyers. Unemployment is very low and construction is booming in the retail/industrial side. Developers continue to build homes....why? I don't know

There is Las Vegas and then, there is Northern Nevada (Reno-Sparks). I can't speak for Vegas because I hate it there, but living in Northern Nevada, I can say that crime is very low. Certain pockets have more because they house low income and criminals. These areas are well known, but the rest of the communities are very safe.

Clean streets, vanilla neighborhoods, 500,000 homes (over 2,000sq ft.) More schools opening up to accommodate the insane growth. Construction everywhere, low unemployment and 4 distinct seasons. Dry weather. Up until recently, my neighbors did not bother to lock their doors.
