Nicholas County is located in the southeastern portion of West Virginia with a population of around 25,000 people. The county seat is Summersville, which is known as the “Jewel of the Coalfields.” Nicholas County features an abundance of outdoor recreation areas, such as Tygart Lake State Park and Bluestone Wildlife Management Area. The area also offers historical attractions including a replica of the historic town of Calvin Locke, the site of a Civil War battle.
