1/6/2012parentHomer does a great job of isolating parents. This school has not met reasonable expectations. My son struggles in school and he has not received the help from this school he deserves. He fails tests but the teachers won't get him extra help because he does well on homework assignments. He does well on homework assignments because we spend hours going over it every night. The school should recognize a struggling student and help them. Homer has not done so. Teachers don't return my phone calls or respond to emails. My son asks for help and they are often unwilling to stay late to help him. The principals have been quite helpful, but a few people do not make a school. This school has been a bad experience.
12/7/2009studentThis school is a great learning environment, and it teaches kids great things, with great, nice, friendly people.
8/19/2009otherI've been involved in the schools in communities in several different states, and I have never seen a high school as much an integral part of the community as this one. The building is in constant use. The extracurriculars for students are the most extensive and highest quality I've seen anywhere. The educational leadership is the very best, the faculty highly skilled and knowledgeable. They are coping well with declining enrollment and funding cuts.
7/5/2008parentGreat school,Good enviroment.
3/20/2008studentHomer high school is a wonderful school in a fabulous community. The arts are supurb, the people varied (at least philosophically; they all tend to be white), and the classes discussion based. There are always complaints; the whole district has been losing money due to a decline in student population. As a consequence, Homer High is slowly losing some of its programs, but the oppurtunities are still here. I'm a senior this year and have loved my expereince.
4/6/2007parentMy daughter went to homer high school for two years and we had to practically drag her away from that school! I have never, ever seen my child enjoy school so much. She enjoyed the extra.curr. activities very much, and liked all over her teachers, which is very rare. A grea school.
