10/30/2012parentI went to this school several days as the teacher insited that I sit with my child because of behavior issues. I think the teacher issues need to be addressed as I saw several on cell phones and noticed a few that left quickly as the bell rang. I don't get a a good felling about this school and the staff overall!!
10/23/2012parentthe worst school district in Arizona. My 5yrs old got in trouble they put him in the office for 6+ hours without giving him any food....:( So inhuman...
7/4/2012parentAs a parent, I m excited about the new school year at LES! I know the teachers are wonderful and they will help my son succeed academically. I also believe in the new administration because they are caring individuals who love students and will definitely make this a great year for everyone! :-)
7/3/2012parentThe school has made great growth over the last year. I am excited for the new principal to take over! Parents need to get more involved. Our kids deserve it!
3/27/2012parentthis school is bad! My 2 kids go there now and have always been straight A students and love to go to school but this year was their first year there and they both hate school. There is a lot of bullying there and even though they say they are against it nothing is ever done about it. The front office staff there is a joke no one knows what to do. I will say however that my son goes to the pre k there and they are great with that part of it or maybe it's just because he has a great teacher! Ms. Harrington is wonderful!
1/25/2011parentMy daughter attends Littleton Elementary and has been there for almost one year. So far it has been very disappointing to see how far behind kids are academically. We come from another state where kids are better taught and challeneged everyday at school. This school really needs to start challenging all of their kids.
8/26/2010otherMy granddaughter was helped greatly by the school counselor. She was fiendly and took our concerns seriously. We appreciate that the school works hard to keep the kids safe.
8/26/2010teacherWay to go Littleton. So glad that your hard work last year paid off and your test scores are climbing!
7/13/2010parentThis is easily the worst school any of my kids have attended. My son who was honor roll since he was in Kindergarten really lost all interest in school in the 6th grade and now that his 8th grade school year is about to start I'm glad he won't be enrolled here. The staff is a complete trainwreck from top to bottom. I must say Ms Kurpiewski who taught my 1st grader last year was the only silver lining from the 4 year experience I had here. TGI is finally over!!!!
4/15/2010parentI have a Preschool kid that attends to Ms. Suns class, I am very please with the development and knowlwdge of my daughter. She is happy to go to school everyday. She learns a lot of stuff everyday. I think Littleton elementary is a great school, and Ms. Sun's a great teacher.
4/6/2010parentI am extremely disappointed with this school especially with my sixth grader. My first grader is fine, love her teacher but counting the days to end of school. They will not be returning to Littleton and my sixth grader is very excited. I agree with the parent who says its 1950s style drill, drill, drill. Moved here from out of state and disappointed with the city will be moving further East. Principal first day was very rude but was apologetic later which I am not accepting.
9/27/2008parentI have found Littleton Elementary School to be one that stand out as exceptional. The school administration and teachers focus on providing great programs to help students who are not on grade level. They offer programs for students who are average and above through new programs such as exploring potential, journalism, presentations, and more. They have this program called Walk to Read where all the students in a grade level move to a different classroom so they can work with students with similar abilities to improve their learning. It is great! I also appreciate the many ways parents can be involved at Littleton Elementary School. They have a Come Read to Your Child program, parent training classes, parent meetings, and more. My daughter's grade has been selected to participate in the Rodel Foundation's MacRo program. As a parent new to the area, I am very pleased with my child's school.
7/2/2008parentThis school has a hard working staff, great to see their interaction among each other, but specially with students. Can wait to see what the new year brings.
12/12/2007parentI have a kindergarten and a 3rd grader who both attend LES and i am so happy with the teachers and staff. My 3rd grader attends a resource class that is awsome. She has shown so much imporvement and growth not only with her academics but her social skills. LES staff is a great team to educate our children.
11/27/2007parentI have a 1st grader. She came from a school that was one of the worst schools in Avondale Dist. She has learned so much in only 4 months. I am thankful. I also love that they want to have parents involved with the school. The staff is very open, always willing to help..... I am thankful that this school has gave my 1st grader, a good start with her reading....
5/4/2007parentI have a 1st and 2nd grader and they are both performing well in this school. We transferred from a different city and so far I am satisfied with their school programs and activities. I just noticed that there are more students in each class and sometimes that can inadvertently cause neglect for other students. Hope the school has plans of expanding to accommodate the ever growing student population without compromising the quality of standard and performance of the school.
1/17/2007parentWe recently relocated from Midland, TX and I have been very satisfied with my daughter's teachers. They are very interested and involved in her progress. They seem to understand what my child needs to learn and provide it for her. I couldn't be more pleased.
8/30/2006parentI have had two children at Littleton. One in preschool/speech and one now in 2nd grade (began Kindergarten at Littleton). I have been very pleased with my sons teachers. They are outstanding! I stay involved and know the teachers, children and administration. There is a new principal this year. We'll see how it goes. I love Littleton! Get involved with your children at school. Visit the classroom, help out your child's teacher, or join the PTA! It will help your child do better in school.
5/11/2006parentIt's very hard to give an accurate description of the school. With the high turnover and rapid pace of building it seems that it is hard to keep up. I do have to say that they have done aan amazing job, under the circumstances, of getting off of school improvement. I think if you look at the individual teachers for your child they have some excellent teachers, but if you look at the overall picture it can be a little disheartening.
12/27/2005parentMy children have attended Littleton for 2 years. We have been EXTREMELY disappointed with the leadership at this school. The principal is bully-ish and insincere. My experiences with her have all been negative. The curriculum at this school has been dumbed-down and de-personalized to try and 'raise those test scores!' There is no personality here. No room for children to be exceptional. If you want bare-bones, pared-down learning (the minimum instead of the maximum) and non-progressive, 1950's style 'drill, drill, drill' curriculum, then by all means- send your kid here. There will be 2 spots open next year when I send my 2 kids elsewhere!
8/1/2005teacherThe teachers and staff at Littleton Elementary School are dedicated and hardworking. They have reached out to our family and my children in numerous ways. There are regular events inviting the community to the school site. I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences with Littleton Elementary School.
6/22/2005parentI moved my family to Avondale from Gresham, Oregon four months ago. We have been extremely dissappointed in the quality of this school. Very little parent involvement. My wife is one of four people on the PTA. The pricipal is not accesible for parents or students. After three months of asking for an appointment with her, to discuss acedemics and expectations of the school, we finally got to meet with her. My children saw her only once. And that happened to be on the day that the governor visited. 'Specials' (PE, Music, etc.) were cancelled on a daily basis because of teacher attendance. Dress code for staff was less than impressive. We do not have a bone to pick with this school. We just wanted to offer our honest review. We would suggest others to avoid this school.
6/9/2005parentThis school really needs to work on getting their programs up to speed. They don't have many extracurricular activities (they don't even have a strings program!) My child's teacher was excellent but obviously overwhelmed. I'm sorry, but this teacher seemed to have so much responsibility dealing with ESL and lower performing children that my child did not excell this year like she did at her previous school.
4/6/2005parentIm very happy with this school they do have all the acadamics programs ,Art music Band , Ext, they also have this Great program called come read to your chid every once a month that parents can come to. the level of parent involvement is some what in between. the only thing I dont like is that the school is getting to much overcrowded and I think that if a teacher has more than 32 children in a class its harder to pay more attention on the children that need that little extra help.I beleve a normal class room should be around 25 to 27 kids.
1/8/2005parentI wish I had checked out this school better before my family decided to buy a home in this district. They have nothing at Quinten Elem. to make this a decent school. My husband and I have decided to move again for the sake of our children's education.
11/1/2003parentI agree with the other parent that this school is capable of accomplishing many things. However it needs to address the issues of the students that need help. We need a speech therapists. So many children are working without the assitance they neet to learn. I do not see our children progressing without the proper tools. The teachers need teachers assistants in the classrooms. The PTA (new this year 2003) needs more parent involvment. This school can do great things....with the proper tools.
8/22/2003parentI believe that this school has a lot of potential. Unfortunatly, I haven't had an opportunity to see much of it. The school's special education program is ran without much regard for the children. There has been a lack of sufficient programs for both underachievers and overachievers and up until now there has been no PTA which allows the parents' concerns to be heard and allow them to have a voice. With all of this in mind it's no wonder the school ranked so low in comparison to the rest of the valley, state and country.
4/24/2003 I am a parent of a child that attends Littleton Elementary. I have also had two other children attend Littleton. The teachers have been awesome. Each and every one of them from kinder to 6th grade has shown how much they care for the kids at the school. All three of my kids have done very well in school and I truly believe it is because of the hard work all the teachers put into their job. The changes that happen because a district is growing can be hard. I would just like to remind the administration that not everything that has ever been done at Littleton is wrong or bad. The teachers are by no means slackers and are definitely there to do their job. I have never seen a harder working bunch of teachers.
