4/14/2011parentI'm giving a 2 stars. We have moved out to this area from the Mesa area. In Mesa there were many many programs for my child who is on an IEP. There is almost nothing here for her. No clubs etc. She can only go until lunch because of the lack of funds for an aide. So far the staff has been very nice and are trying to best meet her needs. I think I'm still in shock over the difference in schools in the valley. Hopefully next yr will be better.
4/8/2011parentI currently have 4 high schoolers at Buckeye Union. I have one that is on an IEP, 2 in honors classes, and 1 mainstream. The school as a whole gives lots of opportunities for sports, music and band, as well as theater for students to express themselves. My only complaint is that although I see the administration at the sporting activities, I don't believe the arts are as supported as they should be.
12/13/2010parentabout 20 years ago I found a high school red ring with a big "B" on it. It is a gold ring. I put it away and lost it at home. A few years ago i went through a divorce and found it in my junk. It has the year 1993 on it. Maybe you can locate the owner. I am sure he or she would like to get it back. Bennie Dimas 1 209 969 2808. I live in northen California now. The ring also has some initials on it for who ever claims it. Thank you and please get back to me.
5/11/2010parentThis school has been a headache from the beginning. The teachers can talk to students anyway they want, and some of the administrative staff won't even listen to the parents. The negative attitude of some teachers and staff is unsatisfactory. How will student succeed with no positive reinforcement.
11/3/2009studentbuckeye union high school is now a better school with the '08 asst.prinsiple as the principle and they enforce their rules and help the teachers, parents and most important the students succed it is a much better school thank youngker orestrella or any other school around this area
9/16/2009parentMy 17 yr. old step son transferred out of North Canyon High with a 1.89 overall GPA in his sophmore year. The boy is now in his senior year and is holding a 2.98 GPA due to the school taking their time with him and not overlooking him or us as concerned parents. The faculty is very attentive to the needs of their kids.
9/8/2009studentI learned so much from this school but there are flaws about this school.
5/17/2009parentI would give this school no stars if that was an option. As both a parent and former teacher at Buckeye Union High School, I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. The teachers, for the most part do attempt to do their best, but have no backing from administration. Speaking of which, the principal is 'unbalanced' for lack of a better term; she will try to harass any teacher who believes in students getting a fair and good education. If you want good teachers, staff, administration, as well as a good education for your children, send them to Youngkers High School instead of Buckeye Union High School.
9/19/2008parentThe principal is very unkind, the staff are just about the same, nothing is great about this high school, send your children to Youngkers if you want them to succeed in life and have a great environment and study.I sent mine and I see the difference.Buckeye high school just horrible!
6/23/2008studentBuckeye Union High School is an excellent school. They have a great Honors program and tough teachers. So if your child is a child wanting to succeed then I suggest having them attend Buckeye. The AG and FFA program are excellent as well as student involvment.
5/22/2008studentI currently attend Buckeye. I think it is an excellent school. Mostly the reason people do not think that it is a good school stems from the students themselves, not the teachers. The students in gerneral have a negative attitude towards authority and education itself. The teachers are incredible. They have a genuine interest in helping the students achieve their best. My teachers care about how i do in class, they want me to succeed.
1/18/2007parentThis school is the best school ever. There are great teachers and even greater students. The Band Program is off the hook! Throw props to Ms. Green and the whole BUHS Drumline
10/4/2006parentBoth of my children attend Buckeye High School. I have a child in the honors program and another child in regular classes. We have just moved to the state and previously attended private school. The change has some getting used to. Overall I am happy with the teachers we have they respond to my concerns in a timely manner. I am concerned with the amount of time kids practice in sporting events. The staff should all be on the same page when it comes to education.
10/3/2006parentWe moved from Glendale to Buckeye like a lot people in the housing boom. The balance between what Buckeye was (pre-boom) and now is vast. It almost feels like we moved into some sort of inner city nightmare as far as the high school system is concerned. There is nothing but total apathy. I am disgusted with lack of EVERYTHING in this school. Most of the staff has such a cavalier attitude toward their jobs... it is infuriating! I am trying to apply for a transfer for my daughter because if she stays at BUHS she will not be prepared for college or the future. The general class average is is an abysmal.
9/6/2006parentI believe BUHS is a great school. The honors program is great and I really enjoy sending my child there.
5/30/2006parentI personally have been very disappointed in the school system at BUHS. I have had first hand experience in observing how the teachers and staff bring themselves down to the students level instead of being the adult. Also, communication is practically nil. For the exception of a couple of teachers I've dealt with, I rarely get call backs or e-mails. Speaking of communication, if your child is falling behind, you don't know until usually it's too late to do anything about it. In my opinion, Buckeye needs to start from scratch and hire new people and get a fresh start.
12/8/2005parentThis school seems to not have a good grasp on the teasing and bullying at the school...
4/30/2005parentMediocrity is the key word for most of this school. Sports is the main emphasis. A few teachers care about students receiving a real education, but most seem to just want to get by and collect their paycheck. Administration appears to be biased.
1/5/2005former studentThe honors program at Buckeye is adequate, but I feel that those in the upper 5% are not challenged enough. There are many extracurricular activities ranging from FFA to yearbook, and most offer applications for post high school experiences.
10/30/2004parentKids today have alot peer pressure. At Buckeye kids are accepted for who they are not by their parents income or how they look or dress or what they drive. This is what helps make a student want to come to school and apply themselves better. When a kid feels good about themsevles they tend to believe in themselves which will make anyone succeed.
