12/1/2011otherI've gone to basha for 2 years now and I think it is one of the best high schools in arizona! The teachers are really cool and there are lots of classes for peoples different interests. The sports and band are very successful also. For the most part the students are really nice too. The administration isn't too strict but they do enforce the rules which is good
9/16/2011parentI have one child who graduated from Basha and one still attending on open enrollment. The school has been such a positive experience for the whole family. Mr James, the principal is always visable and very involved. My children have been involved in sports, clubs, honors classes and much more and we love the school spirit! Several teachers and advisors have gone above and beyond to help my children succeed. I feel Basha High offers a well rounded education. Both of my children earned the AIMS waiver due to their educational experience and still had fun in sports much more.
5/20/2010parentI've been very impressed with Basha H.S so much so that my son will be attending his senior year as an open enrollment student. We live in the Higley School Distrcit, but there is no way we'd pull our son out of Basha. We've had nothing but positive experiences with the administration and faculty. Also my son is taking mostly AP or Honors courses and we find that the teachers go above and beyond when it comes to preparing our students for secondary education and the "real life." I have 5 additional children that I look forward to attending Basha in the future! Go Basha Bears!!!!
5/19/2010parentBoth of my children attended Basha and both enjoyed the experience. They both have also been accepted to a top 10 University on full ride for Academics, not sports. I think the school has a great mix of Sports, Advanced Academics, and Arts.
2/17/2010studentI am currently a sophmore at Basha High School and am receiving an excellent education that meets my advanced level of learning. Basha is not a good fit for every teen, but is a perfect fit for me.
9/30/2009parentI've been a parent at BHS for the past 4 years, my daughter is a Senior. I have been very pleased with Basha. My daughter has taken mostly Honor and AP classes and I've found her to have extremely passionate teachers that are willing to go the extra mile to help those students who want to excell! What more can you ask for? I'm very active at the school and love that parents are welcome to be involved and I feel that makes a difference as well. The kids (for the most part) are respectful and well mannered. Keep up the great work Basha! Go Bears!
8/19/2009studentHey, parent, I go to the school. And if our ratings are good that means we're getting stuff done. Besides, students don't get away with whatever they want. I'm a senior this year and this year especially, the rules are getting tighter. And that's a good thing. Basha's been a great experience for me, for the education and the life lessons. I'm proud to say I'm graduating from Basha.
8/18/2009parentBasha is a great place for kids who want to be social, not a great place for kids to learn. Students are allowed to do whatever they want in the classrooms, including talking, being disrespectful to the teachers and otherwise making the learning environment difficult for those who want to learn. The teachers do not have support when it comes to discipline issues. As a parent and teacher (for the last 17 years) I think it is very sad what our schools have come to. The stats look good when compared to other districts, but when you see for yourself and your kids tell you what goes on, it's a totally different perspective.
4/26/2009parentCan't say enough positive things about the leadership and teachers at the school. Our kids are enthusiastic about learning and have skills that will help in college and beyond.
4/21/2009studentive gone to basha for two years now i moved here from new york my freshman year and arizona was a tottally different place for me. basha makes everyone feel really welcome and everyone has friends. our teachers are young and exciting not just like old people telling us what to do. i can honestly say i can tell any of my teachers anything.!! i love basha. i recomened it to everyone.!!!
2/12/2009parentThere is too much focus on Athletics and sports. Academics too often takes a back seat to sports, especially football. The administration is trying too hard to be better than hamiltons football program, and it is costing the students.
1/25/2009parentThe AP and honors teachers care and the principal is visible every morning outside. There is absolutely no reason any child should fail with so many resources.
11/19/2008studentBasha has it's problems, but what high school doesn't? Bahsa's Principal, staff and students are amazing! I have never been around people with as much school spirit and the motivation Bahsa Bears has. GO BHS BEARS!
11/7/2008otherThe athletic politics are a major problem. To accept inexperienced and who you know players over visablly talented and more experienced players with high grades says alot about the fairness and integrity of this high school. What are you representing as adults and coaches? The athletic department and teachers need to be re-evaluated and instucted in balanced, fair criteria shown for each student, but it has to start with the administration and raising the standards of excellent in unbiased evaluations.
8/3/2008parentGreat opening of school! Students looked happy and excited to begin their school year. Very professional Administration and Office personnel. The one thing I am truely happy with is communicating with my son's teachers by E-mail. School Campus is very clean and inviting, I truely believe this is going to be one of my son's BEST Years at Basha High School.
5/29/2008parentThe Principal is leaving and that is a good thing. She has never been proactive and has always overreacted when certain situations arose. Some of the teachers feel that they are entitled and are not there for the right reasons. Next year will be interesting with a new principal. Hopefully, they can bring Basha around to being a good school.
4/8/2008parentThere are some great people at Basha, but the administration is going through some changes. The principal, who we think is great is leaving and the current people in the running scare me. Maybe some racial issues with some of the secondary administrators.
8/18/2007parentBasha has contemporary style and teaching methods. A great opportunity for aspiring young students and athletes.
8/17/2007parentI think Basha is an overall good school but I think the teachers there are too young and rude.
8/15/2007parentSome of the teachers seem to be into teaching for all the wrong reasons.I have a sophomore and a junior and have been displeased with teachers each year. Admin.needs to get a grip and address these teachers.
8/7/2007parentI agree, to take away math class rooms in order to make them child care rooms, where is the wisdom in that? Overall academics are weak, are the music programs. Admin. seems to only care about sports and money making ideas (child care). We moved here from NY and are very dissappointed in the school.
8/5/2007studentI am currently a senior at Basha and although I love my school and enjoy attending BHS, I do not like administration. Something has to be wrong if most of the counselor's have left. Also, student government's ideas are often shut down that wouldn't normally be shut down at other schools in the district. I just think administration should lighten up a bit.
11/29/2006parentThe sports department needs to be re-evaluated. It is obvious that there is a lot of politics in this department. Basha has an extreme amount of talent that is not being utilized. It seems that it's not what you know, it's who you know. How unfortunate for the kids and the school Let's be fare.
7/27/2006parentFrom a parent's view point... I think academics are fairly strong, but the high school is so new it doesn't have the clout of an established contender (as far as on-looking colleges are concerned). Sports are up and coming - decent teams in the major sports, but has suffered early on (again) due to newness of the school. 5 years from now, I believe Basha will be contending with other local high schools (i.e. Hamilton) for area title(s). Music program is good - way above other schools, yet behind some of the dominant musically inclined programs. Only knock on Basha is the auditorium used for orchestral and choir recitals - having visited many local high schools for various events, I feel Basha's is way to small and an extremely poor design.
4/5/2006parentBasha High is an excellent school, it is a place where your student can truly excel with incredible teachers and staff. I am very pleased with the Adminstration, and their constant support. The extracurricular activities are great, and new organizations forming every year. The best advice I can give you, it is to tell your child to get involved.
2/16/2006studentWell Basha High School is a school that you either you like it or you don't. Parents are very involved with very many things such as involvment of school Dances, Plays, Concerts, Sports, and other extracurricular activities. Basha just started a new program called the A+ Lab which can be very helpful if your child is needing to make up credits. Students are very active, and injoy what there accomplishing. Basha isn't rated so high on a drug free school, but it's getting better.
1/13/2006studentWillis Junior High school is an alright school, it is getting sort of a bad reputation considering the couple of activities that have gone on lately. The parent involvement and the sports are great.
1/9/2006parentWe have been very pleased with Basha High School. Our son came from a very small K-8 private school and we have been satisfied with Basha despite its size. Teachers have been prompt to respond toemails and seem genuinly concerned about our son's progress. I am a substitute in Chandler Unified School District and have worked on all three high school campuses. I have seen more respect and better behavior from the students at Basha High.
1/4/2006parentI am very happy with the quality of education, however as the area is growing the school seems to be shrinking in size, My son has done very well at Basha.
11/18/2005parentBasha High School is a great school but because it is year-round it feels as though my child is distracted during it. The teachers are nice, but some of them are extremely rude.
7/14/2005parentVery good, same parents doing most of work.
5/6/2005studentGreat Academic programs!Highest scores on State AIMS test in the district. Music, Art, and Culinary classes are growing and becoming very successful. Sports teams are top in the state. Football team could impress in the 2005-2006 season. Teachers are involved and do more than expected.
4/25/2005studentThe school overall is really good, but there aren't many extracurricular activities. My friends and i feel left out of so many things that the school does have, because it's just not us. And the things that we would like to have, just aren't reconized by the people and staff of the school. But Basha being a new school, i can except this fact. But for future students...There needs to be more activities! Help out!
2/24/2005parentThe quality of education is excellent at Basha. The kids really lear, and the administration only hires the most qualified teachers. We support our school because they support our children.
2/2/2005parentBasha high school is a great school.
10/7/2003parentThis principal knows how to hire great people who inspire students to learn! Overall my children are challenged appropriately and are planning for college. This school is building a legacy of quality.
