| 4/24/2012 | parent | My son has gone here for 4 years and it keeps getting worse. The principal is a joke. I volunteered for 3 years on a daily basis and never even got a thank you. Avoid this school and their rude principal and office employees. We will attend a charter school next year. |
| 4/18/2012 | parent | This is our 4th year at Hull and I have to say we are DONE! My child is a very good student and gets along with all peers. This year has proven to be very unsuccessful. He his picked up terrible study habits as his teacher has the "do it later" approach. The principal is a joke! She does not back up the students if there is a situation, wand ill never take responsibility for any wrong-doing by a teacher. She has run off many great volunteers and their families from the school. We will be going to a new school Fall 12/13 and can't wait to finally be a part of a new successful school. |
| 12/13/2011 | parent | We moved here in July and was extremely nervous for my son to start with a new school, since we have never had to move before. My son is in 6th grade and he absolutely loves this school! He loves his teachers very much. He talks about them daily and looks forward to going to class. He looks up to all three of his 6th grade teachers. Being we came from a very small school, I knew that he would be challenged acedemically. Since his first progress report, he has had all A's! When I ask him what has helped him get such good grades, he responded to me "his teachers have helped him find ways of how to learn better". I have little interaction with the school and have only had communication with the secretary and three of my sons teachers and are all very pleasant. We are extremely fortunate that they have made our adjustment a wonderful experience. I high recommend this school. |
| 11/4/2011 | parent | As a whole, Hull Elementary is a good school. However, during the four years my child has attended Hull the main issue I have is with the arogant principal. She thinks that she is never wrong, nor is her staff. Instead of making the volunteers feel welcome, she beats them down. She never takes ownership of an issue, she passes the buck and hides behind her staff. She has run off so many families and volunteers that the numbers are down significantly. There had to let a kindergarten teacher, a 1st grade teacher and a 2nd grade teacher go. She does not know how to manage people or befriend them. She is extremely fake and will backstab anyone to get out of a situation. The way she handles requests for one on one meetings with the principal is by telling the parent that the meeting is not necessary. Time for me to look for another school because of this principal. There are several other families who feel the same way. Not sure why she treats her volunteers this way. Guess she will find out how to run a school with no volunteers - - and that will probably happen faster than she thinks! |
| 4/19/2011 | parent | I found the school disappointing because my first experience was a bit of a "snafu". I had turned in an application for open enrollment and was given a great and warm welcome. I even got a tour of the school on that same day. The next day, I was told that they were not having any open enrollment and denied my application. I called the school district who helped me with the situation. This bad start did not help establish trust with this administration. |
| 5/18/2010 | parent | We recently relocated to Chandler. We carefully researched the area we wanted to live in. We chose to live near Hull because of its excellent reputation. It certainly has lived up to everything we had read. You could not ask for a better Administration staff, teacher staff, etc. And, we are very please with the academic standard. |
| 5/18/2010 | parent | The dedication of the staff and the committment of the parents make Hull a great school. I feel completely comfortable bringing up any issues I might have to their caring staff. |
| 5/16/2010 | parent | My child loves attending Hull, I enjoy going to her class and helping out too! The staff is awesome and very helpful! |
| 5/15/2010 | parent | The teachers are amazing from the Principle Cheryl all the way down to the office aids. I have never felt more welcome at any school. And they way they drive the kids is awesome. What kid loves to take tests, and yet my son's teacher has a way of getting them totally pumped up to take a test it's great! |
| 5/15/2010 | other | My grandkids go to this school and it is a wonderful school. The teachers are great and so is the staff. The main thing is they are there for the kids. |
| 5/14/2010 | parent | What a wonderful school through and through! From my children's teachers to the administration and our fantastic parent volunteers, I can't say enough about the very positive experience our family has had as members of the Hull community. |
| 5/14/2010 | parent | My children have been going to Hull Elementary for two years now and they love it. I have been so thankful for the wonderful teachers who help to keep me informed of my childs growth and development. I could not have asked for better. |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | We love the teachers and staff! The school makes learning fun for my guys. |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | The staff at Hull really care for each child that comes through the doors. Not to mention they are willing to answer any question that comes their way from parents. They truly want each child to succeed. We have been here for 3 yrs and each year we were blessed with amazing teachers and opportunities. We will greatly miss Hull next year. |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | The staff are excellent and the district is one of the best in the state, schools are judged by the foundation that a district has to offer in regards to support and priorities. Chandler does an excellent job supporting Hull Elementary and it has been awarded Excelling Schools multiple years! |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | We have been in the community for 2 years now and I am so grateful for where we live! I didn't know anything about the school but ever since my boys have been there, it has been soo phenomenal!! I have one in 4th grade and 1st grade. I love their teachers and the progress that they have made. I can see the changes in them and how proud they are when they are talking about what they did that day or what they learned! They both have tons of friends! Before this school, they were part of the majority and down here, they are the minority but the transition has been so smooth that they have fitted in perfectly like they have always been here! That's one of the reasons I love it, the community is so professional, courteous and loving that I don't want to go anywhere else. My boys are both are learning so much! I feel that the school cares and respects them for being who they are! They only want the best for the kids and want everyone to succeed! The outpouring of support from parents is so great! We love it soo much! |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | It's an A+ designated school with very high standards and expectations of students and parents. Teachers and staff are dedicated, hardworking and caring. I couldn't ask for a better public school in my neighborhood. We are extremely happy with the results our two children have had so far and have two more kids that will be following in their footsteps soon! |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | This school is part of a tight knit community of educators and supportive parents that make it great! |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | I love Jane D. Hull Elementary because they care about my children. Everyone is wonderful there and it is a community in which my children feel safe, respected and liked. We are so glad that our daughters go to Hull Elementary! |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | Besides working at Jane D. Hull Elementary and having two students who have or had attended the school. I know personally that it is an exceptional school and would and have reccomended it to many parents in the surrounding areas. I feel very comfortable with my children and their education and safety as well as my own. The educations is A+ and the entire staff and teachers are always doing what is best for our students. It is more than a school it is an excellent education and resource for your child! |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | Everything about Hull Elementary is A+: Office Staff, Teachers, Support Staff, Volunteers, as well as students. Their Principal and Staff promote and model a culture of respect, care and character that creates great citizenship for our kids and community. |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | Teachers really care abouts their students and it shows by the way students respect them and are dedicated to their studies. |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | Jane D. Hull is an A+ school and has very dedicated teachers. The teachers are some of the most loving and nutruing people that I have ever seen in the education field. The office staff is awesome! They are respectful to the parents and extremly helpful. |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | Kindergarten team is AMAZING with awesome communication to the parents, and an all inclusive program |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | The excellence of the teachers and staff mixed with a loving, caring environment translates into success for the students of Hull Elementary. |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | I love Jane D. Hull Elementary because the teachers and staff really care. They are so involved and it really shows. We have loved every teacher my kids have had. All the activities are well planned. The atmosphere is very positive and encouraging. It is a very happy and safe school. My kids have learned a lot and have become quite the public speakers, due to book reports and projects. I am very impressed with Jane D. Hull Elementary. In my opinion Jane D. Hull is one of the best schools out there and the perfect match for our family! |
| 5/13/2010 | parent | Great Teachers! Great Staff!! My daughters truly enjoy learning at Hull Elementary. They appreciate being challenged each day in class so much so, that they're excited to share their homework assignments with me each day. I'm very thankful my children attend Hull Elementary. |

| 5/12/2010 | parent | The teachers at Hull are incredible. They give each student the individual attention they need to be successful. I have had 3 children attend Hull-the school is one of the main reasons we have stayed in the area. We love Hull Elementary! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | A+ School. Hull elementary has a great staff and excellent teachers. We just love the school our child has progressed in all subjects and currently made it into Honors program.Great community involvement also. :} |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | The BEST STAFF! My kids love to go to school. Their teachers are amazing. I am so honored to have my kids be apart of this school. Thank you Hull! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | My kids have the BEST teachers. Love how the school communicates very well with parents. |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Jane D. Hull is a great school. The teachers are all wonderful, you can tell they really love what they do. The front office staff are super friendly, and helpful always making you feel welcome when you walk in. |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Hull is an A+ school with a fabulous staff. My kids love school and I have been very pleased with the education they are getting! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Hull has a great community of educators...Every person associated with the school is committed to the students...It shows...I love that Hull offers so many different opportunities for all students... |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | The staff & Teachers always amaze me at how much they care for the students. About a year ago my family moved to Maricopa, which is 20 minutes from Jane D. Hull Elementary. My husband & I (and our daughters) love the school so much I drive 20 minutes (each way) for them to continue attending. Which means I spend 2 hours a day in the car in order for my daughters to continue going to a school where the staff treats you like family. Teachers go out of their way to make the classroom fun & educational at the same time. After 5 years of attendance I could go on for days on how much we love Hull! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | I love, love, love Hull Elementary! Great teachers, great school. Great communication & lots of activities to participate in. |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | We bought our house in this area so our children could go to Hull because we saw how well it was rated and we have not been disappointed. The teachers and staff work very hard to make Hull a friendly and comfortable place to learn. We also love that Hull was recognized as an A+ school! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Hull is a school of wonderful teachers and administrators with programs and curriculum that has always motivated and challenged our child. The teaching methods are very collaborative within the grade levels so it exposes the kids to a variety of styles, activities, etc. that stimulate their minds and get them excited about learning. The family community at Hull is dedicated to supporting the kids at all activities and it is so much fun to share that year after year with each other while our kids grow together. Hull has earned its A+ rating for many, many reasons!!!!! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | May daughter learns, thrives, and is comfortable. She is cared about and respected by all at the school. Basically, she is happy. What else can you ask for? |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | We've been at Hull since they first opened their doors. The teachers are great, the staff is so kind and helpful, and my kids LOVE their school! Every child should have fond, fun memories of their elementary school years...I know mine will! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | I moved here without researching schools since my child was only one at the time. Luckily, when she was ready for Kindergarten we realized what a great reputation Hull had. It totally lived up to its reputation and more! The teachers and the staff are wonderful. The school is clean and safe. We achieved the A+ rating two years ago. I joined the PTO and I substitute at Hull on a regular basis. I couldn't be more happy with this school and I feel blessed that my child goes to Hull. |
| 5/12/2010 | other | This school does a lot with PTO, providing a great environment for the kids who go there. The school also provides, aside from PTO, great stuff for the kids, a recently added playground and more! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | The community at Hull is dynamic and supporting. There is diversity in the population, yet a shared sense of purpose. Every staff member I have met routinely goes beyond the call and gives 110% |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | I adore Mrs. Varner! My son has blossomed in her Kindergarten class. There is wonderful communication, motivational teaching, and positive environment and I cannot say enough to do this school and teacher justice! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Parents, teachers, students, and administration all work to make Hull a successful school. Many teachers even have their own children enrolled at Hull. It is a great learning environment full of sensational educators. |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | It is a A+ school. Wonderful teachers that care about a childs education and many parents that are willing to get involved. |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Every administrator, teacher and staff member is dedicated to ensuring that every child gets an A+ education in a fun and safe environment. All staff members know the entire parent and student community and recognize the importance of the school as the center of the entire community. The teachers love to teach and are always looking for even more effective tools for ensuring students get a firm grasp of all subjects. Parents are always welcome in the classroom and in other roles throughout the school. There is not a better educational environment in the area. |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Hull Elementary is the best school my children have attended by far!!! All the teachers and staff are wonderful!! The PTO is fantastic and always plan fun activities for our kids. We can not think of a better school for our children to attend!!! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Hull Elementary has been very supportive to our family. The teachers and staff have been wonderful. The children and families have all made us feel very welcome. There are a lot of activities going on to include families. The school is also welcoming of parents as volunteers in many aspects of the school day. |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Hull Elementary is an amazing school. Would never want my children to attend anywhere else! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | My three kids have all attended Hull, all of them have had a great experience, having one of my kids now be a senior and about to graduate, he says that some of his best memories were spent at Hull Elementary. |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | My kids love Hull! We just moved to Arizona this past summer and the kids like this school a lot more than their old school. Thank you teachers and staff, for making my kids' transition easy! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Fantastic teachers and principal is very involved and caring! |
| 5/12/2010 | parent | Wonderful school. My daughter loves it, and the teachers are the best. |
| 5/10/2010 | parent | Great faculty and staff. We find this school to have a great balance between academics and arts. |
| 4/19/2010 | parent | You can feel the love and support that the teachers and facility give to the students. Hull Elementary is like a big family. |
| 4/19/2010 | parent | It's a welcoming place, where kids feel safe and really get an education. |
| 9/21/2009 | parent | I am so impressed with Hull. Because of budgeting, the teachers (Kindergarten) no longer have assistants. In light of this, they are surpassing my expectations! I am thrilled to have my son attend this school. |
| 9/17/2009 | parent | The parent involvement at this A+ school is beyond expectations! Our mascot is the 'Hull Heroes' and it shows through our teachers, principal, parents, AND in the students we are preparing to lead this country someday! |
| 9/17/2009 | parent | Upon entering this school right away you get a positive vibe. My child started Kindergarten here last year, therefore this is our second year with Hull. The teachers and staff have been very helpful along the way and there is great parent participation at this school which I think is great! Hull is an A+ rated school and I give it an A++. |
| 9/16/2009 | other | Because my granddaughter just entered the first grade and she tells me how much she loves her school and her teacher. |
| 9/16/2009 | parent | It really is a school community, with parents, kids, and staff all working together. |
| 8/2/2009 | parent | I have two daughters attending Hull and we couldn't say enough about the entire experience. The teachers are very pro active and get us involved a lot. Their communication is amazing and I really feel that we have become a part of the school family. We would definately reccommend this school to any family! |
| 5/23/2009 | parent | My daughter is about to graduate 2nd grade from Hull. I love it- the principal is so involved and so are all the teachers. They really go above and beyond here. Parental involvement is so high- often there is a 'lottery' to see which parents can volunteer for certain activities because there are so many wanting to help (or attend field trips). Speaking of field trips, the last two my child went on were free, no cost to us. The others were minimally priced, after all, the school isn't trying to profit off it. Hull was recently award the rating of A+ school, and we are all so proud. My child will be entering the self contained classroom of gifted students as a 3rd grader and I am very thrilled with how proactive the educators are here. |
| 5/27/2008 | parent | I am definitely happy with Hull Elementary. I work fulltime and so I can't be as involved as the other moms, but I find it is super easy to communicate with the teachers and principal alike. I just type them a quick e-mail, and I get very timely and appropriate responses. Not to mention the fact that I have a written record of the exchange if, God forbid, issues persist (I've never run into any problems, though). To the person who said their grandkids can't afford field trips: many of us who are in a position to help out a needy child would do so in a heartbeat. Let the teacher know what the situation is. S/he isn't a mind-reader! Most have the child's best interest at heart and will make sure the child isn't left out, just so long as they know about it, and we parents can help too. |
| 11/2/2007 | other | I just want to say, when teachers bring in extra carricular activities, and field trips, the student always has to pay. But some students parents are out of work, and can't pay. If they don't pay they can not go on these trips. So they have to sit alone while there whole class is out having fun. The student feels terrible and is ostrisize. I think that is terrible. That is my comment. I am a grandparent. Thank you. |
| 8/18/2007 | parent | I am a parent here and I think its wonderful. The teacher's are great, they have a well ordered disipline. The lunch and recess is scheduled by grade. The kids can either go out and play or stay in and watch a movie after lunch. There is P.E. and Music, computers, and a library. For 5th and 6th grade students are allowed to play an instrument. There are now two buildings. One for 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th grades. The 2nd building is for 6th.Trust me this school is a great place. My children come home happy. |
| 4/3/2007 | parent | I've been involved since my child's first day of kindergarten. I love this school, but parent's must be involved for it to really shine. Some of the comments here leave me feeling that the nay-sayers are not involved personally. Join in! |
| 1/29/2007 | parent | We moved to Chandler from California and are very happy with this school. The teachers and staff are great. The security measures at this school leave me feeling that my child is very safe. The level of academics is wonderful and there are always opportunities to do extracurricular activities. |
| 11/1/2006 | teacher | Jane Dee Hull Elementary is a top Arizona school. It has an outstanding principal who cares deeply about the students in her care as well as the community and the educators who work for her. The extremely qualified staff at Hull Elementary is top notch, and strive to do their best to ensure that every child in their classrooms are successful. I find it a privilege and an honor to work for one of Arizona s top schools. |
| 10/30/2006 | parent | My boys have been at Hull for 4 years now and I've been happy with every teacher every year. The teachers work hard in making sure that kids are placed in the right class for the next year. Each of my boys learning style and teaching needs are considered when placing them in the next grade/class. I'm very impressed with all the teachers I've met and their dedication to teaching. The classes are large but they work hard at making sure they teach every kid at the level they are at. |
| 9/15/2006 | parent | It seems like this school is more worried about test scores than creating a love of learning. It is very overcrowded with large classes. They are very worried about disapline at this school, a little to much sometimes.Kids are still kids, not little adults. Also there is a clique of parents who are in tight w/ the principal, and seem to run mostly everything. |
| 4/20/2006 | parent | Hull has an exceptional ability to create interest in learning. My 5 children have attended 6 elementary schools over the past 10 years, Hull is by far the highest for academics. |
| 1/10/2006 | parent | Jane d. Hull elementary school is awesome! the principal, the teachers and the school staff are dedicated professionals who care. Their daily actions, responses and coordination, reflect the extent of their personal and professional effort in the teaming success of obtaining and exceeding each student, their parents and the school's goals and expectations. All are committed to the educational, social and emotional well being of their students. Jane d. Hull is an expectional school, one that brightly outshines the rest in i have dealt with from, hawaii, oregon, california and throughout the rest of arizona. Jane d. Hull understands the importance of child educational and growth and how the parents are an integral part of solutions to progress. Noteworthy are the outstanding music, cats, special education and counseling programs. Equally postive and wonderful are the event activites, parental involvement opportunties, childcare, newsletters and internet accessibilities. Thank you for a job well done! |
| 7/15/2005 | parent | Jane Dee Hull Elementary School is an excellent school! The teachers are outstanding and provide a quality, nurturing environment for my children. Everyone at the school is very welcoming and positive. We couldn't be happier! |
| 6/16/2005 | parent | My son finished his first 2 years of school here. In K we really felt good about the teachers and the education program, but entering into first grade we had alot of poor communication from the teachers end. Things would occur at school that we felt were very important to mention to us, as parents, but she never approached. When we mentioned things we felt as if they were trivial to her. I feel that bodily harm and emotional hurts are important for a parent to be informed of. Better communication whould have made us much happier and would have left us with a better feeling for JD Hull. |
| 4/1/2005 | parent | We have a first and fourth grader at JDH and couldn't be happier! My fourth grader has been at Hull since it opened and my son since first. They love attending school everyday. The teachers are wonderful and extremely encouraging to each of our children. The entire staff is so friendly and kind. It is always a pleasure to walk through the halls and have so many people make you feel welcome and part of the school. We love it and since we are educators too, we know they are getting a great education. Yes, the class sizes may be higher, but they are doing a super job! |
| 2/25/2005 | parent | This is a very large school, but they have lots of extracurricular activities and high level of parent involvements. |
| 1/27/2005 | parent | My son got lost in this school. Although very nice teachers & staff, way too many children enrolled. |
| 11/26/2004 | parent | Hull is an excellent school. A big thank you to all of the teachers and administration. |
| 10/17/2004 | parent | Principal Weyenberg gets a rave review from me too. As for the poster who said they've never seen her - well that person has obviously not attended any school functions as she is at every one of them - band concerts, choral concerts, 6th grade DARE graduation, school carnival... literally every single function I've been to for my 2 kids. Oh and even if you don't go to any function, you will find her acting as traffic coordinator before AND after school! The one complaint I would give is that amount of homework, at least for the 1st grade - it was more than my 6th grade son's! |
| 6/22/2004 | parent | Hull is a good public school. The principal is very popular among teachers in the district and has her pick of the very best. Parents are very involved and provide instruction for Art Masterpiece, Young Astronuats, Junior Achievement and after school clubs. Academics could be stressed more than they seem to be at this school. Also, too much time is spent on 'fun' activities including 'buddy' programs, parties, and fun fieldtrips such visits to water parks. |
| 5/22/2004 | parent | I have children enrolled for the the 2004-2005 school year. I am concerned about class sizes and high teacher to student ratios and overall huge number of total studen body. Is this school overcrowded? Are the children getting the best education? |
| 1/8/2004 | parent | Our family has been with Janice Weyenberg since 1996 when she was at Jacobson Elementary. She is the reason we came to Hull. We see her smiling face everyday, as she makes it a point to direct traffic to keep the pick up line fair and flowing, also to interact with all of her parents and students. She knows the names and grades of her students and remembers them for years after they have moved on to other schools. She is remarkable at problem solving and communication. Is it no wonder that a lot of our teachers have been with Jan since before Hull was built? Someone would have to be near sited not to notice our Principal. Her spirit shines through every teacher and student that has the privilege of gracing the doors at Hull. I give this school the highest rating. Thank you Jan for everything. |
| 1/2/2004 | parent | This school may do fine compared to other Arizona schools. However, comparing it nationally it is extremly disappointing. Teaching methods very outdated. Full day kindegarten is the norm in most other states. These students fall bahind from the start, trying to learn everything in less than three hours a day. I have yet to see this principal once. A big change from the last school where we saw the principal everyday, in the morning and after school. The parents are very involved here, that is encouraging. |
| 7/7/2003 | | My daughter will enter 2nd grade at JDH this school year and I could not be more pleased with the quality of her educational and social experiences at JDH. Caring administrative, teaching and support staff make each and every day a pleasure for students and parents! We researched extensively before our relocation to Chandler and are confident that JDH was the right choice for our daughter's future academic success. |
| 3/29/2003 | | My daughter is in the first grade at JDH. Just to see her get excited about going to school makes me feel good as a parent. The teachers and staff at this school care about the students and their families, and it shows. With so many students in the classrooms these days, it makes it hard for the teachers. They need and depend on parental help in and out of the classroom. The children reap the benefits of our helping the teachers and the school . Anyone who participates in their childs education will find that the school shines brighter and our children learn more!! I am proud to have my child a student in JDH and she is proud also! |
| 3/27/2003 | | My daughter is in 1st grade at JDH. I am very pleased with the level of communication between teacher/school and parents. They are working very hard towards meeting standards and quarterly report cards describe to great detail how the student is progressing. Their proactive attitude to maintaining an optimum learning atmosphere in the classrom is admirable. I have first hand experience with their efforts and am a very satisfied parent. |
