| 9/25/2008 | parent | Children are treated as equal and homework is lacking. My child isnt challenged. I have liked all the teachers. |
| 8/1/2008 | parent | This school is the best. My grandson is in 2nd grade and loves this school. Mr Estes is always available for the students and parents. It is great to see him at the front of the school every morning and after school greeting the kids and parents and available to discuss any concerns and making sure the campus is a safe environment for everyone. The teachers are great and are at this school by choice. A lot of the teachers are also parents that have chosen this school for their children. Teachers encourage parents involvement. I love the location of the school as it is not on a heavily traveled street so unless you live in the area, you don't even know it is there. Much safer as far a traffic and also crime. Love it - love it - love it. |
| 2/27/2008 | parent | This has been the worst school any of my children have ever attended I am pulling my child out due to the lack of discipline of problem students my child as well as others have had a constant problem w/ the same kids bulliying on the bus. I have spoken with the principle on several occations and nothing has been done! |
| 1/3/2008 | parent | My son is on a boundary form in order to attend Bologna. This basically this is not his home school and we chose for him to attend and the district approved the request. Bologna is great and we love it. Our son has learned so much and had great teachers and peers. The staff in the office is very nice and attentive. My son has had problems with other students and the teacher has addressed them and now they are all great friends. I thank the Bologna staff for all their hard work and dedication. |
| 10/3/2007 | parent | I sat through Curriculum Night with the first grade teachers several years ago. These teachers came across as a strong unified team dedicated to giving my children a quality experience. They did present using a powerpoint slide show, but they did ask for feedback, comments, and questions from us parents. They spent time after their presentation to offer advice and answer questions on the curriculum. I think they did a wonderful job! I have 2 children that have completed first grade and still attend Bologna and I have been nothing but pleased with their teachers and the school in general. |
| 8/14/2007 | parent | Our daughter is a 3rd grader that has attended Bologna since kindergarten. She has loved each of her teachers dearly, felt safe & has progressed very well academically & socially. We are both very involved parents & the school community is also excellent. The entire staff @ Bologna is caring and willing to help with anything you or your child needs! |
| 8/13/2007 | parent | This was our first Public School experience (coming from private Christian 7 years) and Bologna did not disappoint. Principal Estes is caring and organized, Mr. Romano was top notch and a great communicator, and Ms. Day a pure joy! Office staff are available, friendly, and professional, PLT are super and committed, and the extracurricular activities are consistent and invigorating. Looking forward to our new teachers Mr. Breen and Ms. Farmer whom we've both met and are impressed with. We could not have asked for a better experience for our two children. If you are a hands-on parent who likes to be involved in a positive manner, you will love Bologna! |
| 7/1/2007 | parent | Class sizes are to big. Most teaching targeted for average students. Not enough support for different types of learning styles. Not enough parent communication.Principal needs to be more involved with what is going on in the classrooms. |
| 5/27/2007 | parent | I love Bologna! My children have felt comfortable, safe and loved while learning at Bologna. The teachers are very caring. The principal has been great for me and my children. The level of parental involvement is good. Parents are encouraged to come in to volunteer, run art masterpiece and/or teach junior achievement. Over the years, I have noticed does the same parents helping out. |
| 3/26/2007 | former student | This school is the greatest. I have been here since first grade and finished Bologna Elementary last year. The teachers really care and most of the teachers can relate to kids because they have young children. Many teachers are funny, but always stay on track with the lesson. They know what they're doing and why they're doing it. As I said before, they really do care. |
| 3/13/2007 | parent | My daughter and I have LOVED her teachers at RGB. The after school activities are minimal and the I don't get a sense of strong principle leadership. At after school functions, the parents tend to represent and support the school more than many of the staff. From what we have seen the parent involvement is very good! We will miss many of them as we move on to Junior High. |
| 2/1/2007 | parent | My experience is with the Kindersteps program. It is a wonderful program for 4-year olds that barely miss the Kindergarten cut-off. Mrs. Parris is an excellent teacher. The students seem to enjoy all the options and field trips. The parents are quite active with the class. |
| 4/22/2006 | parent | My son attended the kindersteps program and I highly recommend it to anyone who's child is ready for kindergarten but misses the cutoff date, my son has excelled and will be attending 1st grade next year instead of just beginning kindergarten, it would have been an injustice to wait a whole year as I feel he would have been bored stiff in kindergarten. Thanks ms. balaschak you've done a great job. |
| 12/8/2005 | parent | We have had a terriffic and wonderful experience with this school. Our son has had a good experience. |
| 12/4/2005 | parent | Bologna seems to be a quality school where kids feel important and safe. |
| 12/1/2005 | parent | I am new to Bologna this year. I love the schools atmosphere and teachers. I have a 1st grader and a third grader. The teachers seem to really care about my kids and love their jobs. Overall, I would say Bologna is a great place for kids to learn and grow. |
| 12/1/2005 | parent | Bologna is a 'great' school! I disagree with some of the comments that have been posted about Bologna. Mr. Estes has been very helpful. All of the teachers my children have had have been very qualified and caring individuals. I appreciate the calm tone of the campus and staff. If you are thinking about having your child attend Bologna Elem., stop by and check it out for yourself. Bologna is an excellent school with an awesome staff! |
| 11/4/2005 | parent | Wow! Every teacher I have come in contact with at this school is so helpful, wonderful and nice. It's a great school! |
| 11/4/2005 | parent | Very liberal minded school. They had a 'art' group come in and teach some freelance song and dance to every grade level. Not much foundation learning can take place with too much fluff. |
| 8/31/2005 | parent | I'm very disappointed. The first meeting with the parents a few weeks ago was a shock for me, no one from all of the first grade teachers could speak himself, they just were reading some prepared document displayed on the wall, one by one, nothing from the heart, just a formal reading. The first impression was: 'I don't like this job but I have to do that.' If you want to meet with the teacher for some reason you can't do that and have to wait for a next meeting in a month or so. Most of the teachers never say hi or smile when meet with parents or children. In the very beginning of the school year we signed a paper who can pick up our children from the school. What happens every afternon? They leave the class alone, the teacher disappears, so there is no control. Is it really safe? |
| 7/24/2005 | parent | The school needs more public support |
| 7/12/2005 | parent | The teachers are wonderful. They truly care about the children and their success. I am glad my child attends Bologna and I am looking for to many more fantastic experiences! |
| 4/8/2005 | parent | After two years at this school, I am looking for other options. My child is is at the top of his class in reading and math, however no challenging work is given to him. Everyone in the class does the same work, no matter where they are at. On the plus side, most of the kids I have seen do read pretty close to grade level. |
| 4/1/2005 | teacher | Bologna has wonderful educators, students, and parents. |
| 3/24/2005 | parent | Mr. Estes and all of the teachers at Bologna are skilled and caring people. Bologna is a quality place for children to learn. |
| 11/4/2004 | parent | My 5th grader has been at RGB since all-day kinder with Mrs. Shaw and I couldn't be more pleased with the school. The teachers are awesome and they have high expectations for the students. Mr. Estes has brought together a great staff of teachers! |
| 9/21/2004 | parent | I am satisfied with the education my children received at RGB. |
| 9/3/2004 | parent | I feel that Mr. Estes has done a wonderful job with my son. He has given him a great sense of worth, and self esteem. Also the office staff this year is the best. Thank you Bologna |
| 5/14/2004 | parent | Overall, Bologna does an excellent job of educating the students. My son attended all-day kindergarten with Mrs. Shaw and Mrs. Burke, and he couldn't have recieved a better education in a private school. This year (1st grade) with Mrs. Jenkins my son has made HUGE strides in reading. In this the school has exceeded my expectations. I would like to see more parent involvement and more encouragement of parent involvement, which I think would turn this good school into an exceptional school. |
| 1/22/2004 | other | Our grandson is in kindergarten, and has Mrs. Angel. We are from PA. and while visiting AZ. in Dec. we scheduled a visit, and had the privilege of sitting in on one of his classes. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. His teacher, was everything he told us she would be, a good teacher, caring, and helpful. We saw that she has a good relationship with her students. She sends a positive message to them, included with organized structure in the classroom. Which we believe provides them with a good foundation for their coming school years. We liked the way the school was laid out as far as classes, library, and the courtyard. Our grandson was proud to show us his school. He has a positive outlook about his teacher and his school. |
| 9/23/2003 | parent | I have had children at this school since it opened. I feel that they have a great staff of teachers. The teachers all seem to be very caring as well as talented and dedicated. The PTA, FTO, parent site counsel, or whatever they are calling this year is a joke! As a parent it is difficult to continue to volunteer because of the clickish environment that has been allowed to continue. There are no elected officers, which allows the same self-chosen few to make all the decisions and then act extremely put upon because they feel they do all the work. Donations and volunteers do not receive acknowledgement let alone a thank you, donations (including tax donations) do not receive receipts, and don t expect to be repaid for purchases you are asked to make on behalf of the FTO , without a huge fight. Great Teachers are wonderful; a great school community would be even better. |
| 7/25/2003 | parent | Overall, very disappointed with Bologna. Minimal exposure to science, history, music, art. Class size 29 is common. No real PTO, no classroom 'open houses' except 'meet the teacher' 1st week of the year, no school open houses, one 15 minute parent/teacher conference for the entire school year (which ocurred without privacy as other parents waited in the classroom for their 15 minute conference), hard to access teachers, and inaccessible principle. Refused to offer any guidance for our ADHD child despite our verbal and writen requests. |
| 7/8/2003 | | Wonderful teachers however my interaction's with the Principal, Mr. Estes was not so wonderful. He in my opinion brings the school's value down. |
| 4/28/2003 | | A quality school. They have a very diverse population and meet the needs of all students. Their extra curricular activities are outstanding. Ranging from tutorials to sports. Mr. Grimes does an awesome job with many students involved in running club and the Hershey Track program. My children look forward to joining his running club and track club each year. I am very pleased with all the teachers my children have had over the last couple years. Bologna teachers, keep up the good work! Thank you! |
| 4/28/2003 | | My children have attended Bologna since it opened. James Estes and his staff are top notch. Having served on the PTO and interacting with the staff on a one-to-one basis, I have been and continue to be not only satisfied but impressed with the quality of education my kids are receiving. Bologna will be hard to match when the time comes for them to move on to Jr. High. |
| 4/21/2003 | | Three years ago my husband and I enrolled our children into Rudy G. Bologna elementary school. It seemed like a pretty good school. I asked many people about the principal and staff, it was all positive feedback. Unfortunately, this year has not been good. Mr. Estes is a very laidback principal who doesn't want to have to deal with problems. I would love to see a new person come in and put this school back on top. Every teacher that I have met or know are fantastic people with great attitudes that seem to love what they are doing. |
| 4/21/2003 | | Could use a principal who actually looks and acts like he wants to be there. He doesn't seem to want to help with problems, rather just act as though it really is no big deal. |
| 10/15/2002 | | Bologna is a good school but as all, could use a little improvement. With the current Principal there is no good Parent Teacher Organization. He prefers his P.L.T. with only very few who actually enjoy this type of meeting and are active in it. Could use a Principal who is more active and not so easy going and laid back. Would love to see more parent/teacher activities. Some really good teachers to be found at this school and some wonderful students who are a joy to see at the school every morning. Mr. Breen is especially wonderful to meet and he is very active with all the programs both safety and arts with this school. Make sure you look him up! |
