| 8/13/2012 | parent | The leadership in this school is outstanding. I've never encountered a more professional, hands-on principal. We've been there for 2 school years now and the principal is wonderful. She has a great mix of personality and being personal, but so very professional. I can see that she is a great leader for the teachers - there is a reason the school has an "A" rating. The teachers are organized with challenging academic programs. I am so pleased with Chaparral and the excellent teachers and admin staff. |
| 4/20/2012 | parent | I have two children that went to Chaparral and my son loves the school and my daughter 'Kind of' liked the school! My daughter says that the teachers didn't discipline very well and their flow wasn't all that great. She says that the teachers were kind of crazy, but my son ... LOVES HIS SCHOOL! He thinks that his sister is crazy! One of the craziest teachers (per my daughter) was also one of the teachers she learned the most from ... go figure. |
| 2/19/2012 | parent | Great school. My son also transferred after winter break from a nearby Higley school and has had nothing but a great experience with the students and staff. Just minutes away from another school in the district but a world of difference in the students, staff, teaching philosphy and partnership with parents. I still think K-8 is ridiculous, Jr. High should be in a seperate school all together but if you're stuck in the area recommend this schol. |
| 1/11/2012 | parent | My son transferred here mid semester this fall in 8th grade. I have been so happy with the level of support and help we received making that transition at such a hard age. The teacher, administration and support staff are happy to be there. Great community spirit and it shows! |
| 9/15/2011 | parent | My kids have been at Chaparral since it has opened. It gets better every year. We love it. I couldn't be more happy with the education my children are getting. |
| 5/29/2011 | other | I went to this school in 8th grade and I loved it! I went the year drama free probably because of the friends I made. The teachers were very nice and I enjoyed learning there! |
| 5/27/2009 | parent | My kids just finished year 2 at Chaparral Elementary and have been there since it opened in 2007. The first year was a bit rough, as it often is for a first year, but the staff has really worked though the issues and this year was phenomenal. I attend PTO meetings and The Principal, Mrs. Edgar is dedicated and seems to really listen and respond to parents' concerns. I volunteer in both my kids' classrooms regularly and have come to know many of the teachers and staff this way and I couldn't be more impressed. There are lots of community events (Fall Festival, Muffins with Mom, Doughnuts with Dad, Sock Hop, etc...) that are fun for the whole family and give the opportunity for the staff to have fun with the students as well. Higley school district is definitely having 'growing pains,' but Chaparral is a bright spot in the district! |
| 1/9/2009 | parent | We just moved to CA and I have to say I miss Chaparral Elementary already. My Kindergartner had Mrs Pallon, and what an amazing teacher she is. We will never forget her wonderful example and dedication to her class. Thanks Mrs Pallon and all the staff at Chaparral! |
| 8/17/2008 | parent | I love the school! Great staff, parents and students. I would not use this as a forum to talk about others and use their names..how sad. I think all the office staff and teachers are doing a wonderful job. Some are busier than others and focused on getting their jobs done; nothing wrong with that. Great school with excellent staff and families! some have much more work that |
| 8/12/2008 | parent | This school is wonderful. My daughter is now in 2nd grade and came from a school with the 2nd highest test scores in the state in the middle of last year. She is still being challenged and absolutely loves it at Chaparral. Shannon is absolutely fabulous. There is another front office staff by the name of Jennifer that does the attendance. She isn't quite as warm and fuzzy as Shannon but still very nice. Anyway, I am a former teacher so I'm pretty particular about schools. I would love to see more veteran teachers there but this is only the 2nd year they've been open and I think they're doing a fabulous job. |
| 6/3/2008 | parent | Staff is great, even though most of them seem very young. They seem to truly care about the students. Front desk is very friendly (her name is Shannon by the way.) My kids love it there and have made many good friends. Students seem to like the school and take pride in it. I'm glad my kids go there and I would recommend it to others. |
| 5/1/2008 | parent | The the office people are fabulous, the receptionst's name is not Jennifer. |
| 4/30/2008 | parent | I disagree regarding Jennifer the receptionist. She always has many people needing things from her asap and does her best to get everyone in and out of the office quickly. She address students as well as parents by their names which makes everyone feel important. |
| 4/17/2008 | parent | We have a son in 2nd grade in this school and we were so disappointed by the academic areas. The spelling words that were given to 2nd graders are too easy, its like they're going back to kindergarten..example like the, two, too, you...even the word 'is' or 'I', 'me', he, be....soooo easy..,the students are not challenged. They should give spelling words that are common words like numerical, sentences, etc..my son used to go to a charter school in 1st grade in Phoenix and their spelling words there are difficult, like december, captain, vocabulary,sentences...and theyre only in 1st grade...another problem is the math is still in addition and subtraction, they should be in multiplication and division/fractions by now. |
| 4/15/2008 | parent | To many 'new' just graduated teachers! Getting better each day! Front desk receptionist Jennifer could be more friendly and personable. Seems very unorganized. |
