7/29/2011parentI became a young mother at the age of 15 and now have a son attending Sonoran sky, not to mention I actually attended sonoran sky as well in the eighth grade. I personally think this is a great school my son will be in 3rd grade this year and has been there since kindergarten and the teachers and staff have been wonderful to both my son and I academically and in discipline. i am always well informed of my sons academics and behavior each and every year and that means a lot to me so thank you sonoran sky and keep up the good work!
5/17/2010parentMy daughter is finishing up her second year at Sonoran Sky and we have been very happy with her school. This year her teacher has been absolutely amazing. She is very organized and is constantly challenging our daughter to do better. She is finishing up 1st grade but reading and writing at a third grade level. The parent involvement is getting better then when we first started. Our family attends all PTSA meetings, school events and we volunteer as much as possible. The Principal is an amazing woman who truly cares about our children. The teachers and staff are a great group of people.
1/21/2010parentMy daughter is in 8th grades the students are runnning wild, with no consquences. The things she tells me are horrible. The discipline policy is a joke.
8/9/2009parentI love this school! The teachers, and staff, the bus. The only thing I think Id change is the notices, I feel a month in advance is perfect not 1 day!
8/9/2009parentEverything awesome with the school.Id only change the notices we get they should be a month in advance!
6/6/2009parentMy child has had a wonderful experience at Sonoran Sky over the past three years. She has been cared for and provided a great education. Thank you teachers.
5/15/2009parentThe teachers in the school are horrible, no parent involvment, and the principle does not solve any issues.
3/18/2009parentThe school very bad for it's lunches but the teachers are the best!
1/8/2009studentThe school's 8th grade and 7th grade are very wild, but now since there are more strict rules being enforced, its gotten alot quieter. Mostly because there were teachers that really didn't care, but in 8th grade, the teachers treated us like their childern, they cared for us, and told us what was right versus wrong, and because of this, students cared for the teachers as well, like a bond. I may be only 14 but I certainly believe that this year will be one that I will cherish.
1/27/2008parentNot enough reviews on this site to get a true picture of the school. Most reviews are written by parents with small children. Teachers at Sonoran Sky have an easier time teaching the lower grade children. In 7th and 8th grades the students are runnning wild, with no consquences. The discipline policy is a joke.
5/31/2007parentMy daughter just finished kindergarden at sonoran sky and she loved it. My husband and I loved her teacher. I couldn't believe the stuff my daughter knew. She can almost read a 2nd level book by herself. I love the teachers and staff. Mrs. Haas was wonderful and always kept the parents involved. I thought that was great. I know my daughter will miss her teacher as will I. We recently moved and sadly she will not be returning for 1st grade at Sonoran Sky. I would have loved to keep her in this school, it's a great school. Thanks Mrs. Haas for a wonderful year!
4/25/2007parentMy son transferred to this school in the second trimester. The curriculum at the time seemed about the same, but his attitude about scool increased tremendously. We are almost at the end of the semster and they have been working on 1st grade work for about 2 months. (He's in kindergarten). His teacher, Mrs Bennett, is very helpful and is always trying to keep the parents involved. She talks to the kids on a kids level. The principle is out almost every afternoon assisting with child pick-up. This school is very well organized.
3/28/2007parentI have known about this school for 4 years and have followed it closely. I believe this is one of the best Pendergast District Schools. I transfered my son from his school to this one the administration was very wonderful and welcoming. The principal took her time to come out and welcome us to the school. My son has been attending this school for 2 weeks and has homework every night. He comes home from school and says he has homework and actually does it. He likes school and wants to exceed as his teachers want him too. Mrs. Morris and Mr. Starkey you both are wonderful thank you for welcoming my son and making him feel like he belongs.
5/7/2006parentThis school is a sinking ship, get off as fast as you can. higher education is nonexistant and your children won't find any friends who care about school, most are just wandering about aimlessly or are runniing the place and school work is nonexistant.
3/7/2006parentThis is an excellent school.. that really cares about hte students
9/17/2005parentMy son is a kindergardner at this school. He definately enjoys going to this school and likes his teacher. About the 4th wk of school, he started to receive homework. He receives a packet (about 4 pgs) on mon. And has until fri. To complete it. We spend approx. 10-15Min. A day working on it. We usually completes it w/in 2-3 days. Everyone in the admin. Office is so nice and friendly. I have only volunteered once so far and the staff was very organized. The staff on watch for the drop off/pick up times, are very good at watching out for the kids. Kids, k-4th, line up to wait for parents to pick up and teachers are always out there waiting w/ them. My neighbor, who has girls, have gone to this school for 3 years. She has not had any problems and would recommend this school as well.
5/29/2005parentSonoran Sky is a good school. There is new leadership this year, which was sorely needed. Both Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Bartels have helped change the environment from one that was overrun with discipline issues to a safe place for my child to be. They take the time to listen to parent input, and have actually implemented a new routine as a result of one of the safety concerns I posed (student pick-up). My child has been very happy with his teacher and I am, as well.
5/11/2005parentMy son attended this school for 3 years; 3rd, 4th & 5th grades. All of his teachers were wonderful and very concerned with parent involvement. They were all very good about communication and alerting us as soon as they noticed missing assignments. Since then, we have moved and I would give anything to put my son back into Sonoron Sky. This is a great elementary school.
4/28/2005parentSonoran Sky has many new teachers each year. Specials include art, music, and pe. Parents involvement is minimal in the upper grades.
4/1/2005parentI like the teachers this year at Sonoran Sky; however, their curriculum seems to be not at the same level as other school districts and that bothers me. My daughter is learning things this year that her other friends learned last year at their schools; the curriculum seems behind other school districts. I do appreciate the new principal and vice principal; there is much more discipline this year, than last year. My major complaint is that there are not enough extra-curricular events for kids after school. A lot of kids have nothing to stay after school for, so they are left to wander through the neighborhoods and that causes problems. They need more sports programs and better after-school care programs for the kids. If they can't get other after-school daycare programs, then they should allow other daycares to come to the school to pick up kids.
2/3/2005parentThe Teachers here were great but the principles did not care about keeping students safe. The bus system was not proper either. Students had to use a bus pass to ride the bus. If the student did not have his/her bus pass, he/she was suspended from the bus for 5 days. My son is very forgetful and would forget and would have to walk accross the freeway to get to school. I did not agree with this system. The principle does nothing. Not enough teachers too many subs.
4/7/2004parentThe teachers are kind and caring. My son is in a safe, respectful, consistant environment. I am impressed with the amount of communication between his teacher and myself.
3/19/2004parentI love my daughter's teacher. She is in kindergarten and I can't believe all the stuff she has learned. I also like the fact that because she is ahead of other students that they send her to another class for reading instead of reviewing stuff she already knows.
10/26/2003parentAdministration has demonstrated little responsibility for discipline problems at the school. Admin., teacher's, and staff need to be more accountable for student misbehaviour. They need to determine cause for disruptions and not take the easy way out an ignore proglems. Admin. needs to follow up with more rigorous discipline and guage its effectiveness or ineffectiveness.
9/19/2003parentMy sons first grade teacher has gone out of her way to provide the best education for him. We had discussed his behavior and development. We knew he would need help in both areas. She guided us in the right direction as to what steps to take next. She took all the right steps and now my son is making remarkable improvements. We send many thanks to all the teachers and staff for making such a positive impact on education.
3/27/2003  my son's teacher is awesome and have had no problems!!!!
