| 10/25/2011 | other | I loved going to this school, it was the best school i have ever been to. And also, here i met the girl of my dreams! |
| 7/17/2011 | parent | In my opinion, the quality of this school went down in the last two years. (I myself gave the rating of 5 stars some two years ago... when my child was in the 4th grade.) Over the time, I noticed that the overall AIMS scores of students tends to go down (especially in math) in higher grades. The reason might be that teachers themselves are not so comfortable with the pre-calculus math in the 5th and 6th grades. (Writing and reading are somewhat better, even though the corresponding scores went down too.) Here are the AIMS results for math in 2010: 3rd grade- 76%, 4th grade - 73%; 5th grade - 70%, 6th grade - 64%. This are TERRIBLE results even for the state of Arizona. However, let's not forget that Arizona is one of the weakest states in the nation in terms of education. I had to teach math to my child myself. It's fortunate that I can do that professionally. In order to insure the future success of your child, I strongly suggest every parent to address this problem one way or another. |
| 11/2/2010 | parent | Our son has been attending this school since kindergarten and now is in the fifth grade. We could not be happier with a school! Great caring teachers and staff. They teach the kids the six pillars of character and homework is reasonable not overwhelming so that students can learn yet still enjoy being a child. We highly recommend this school! |
| 10/8/2009 | parent | I love this school! My son has been in attendance since 2nd grade; he is now in 5th grade. They have a great band program as well as great extracurricular activities. If the school is doing what needs to be done during the day, there is no need for excessive homework. Lots of homework does not make a great school... quite the opposite in my opinion. |
| 2/3/2008 | student | I do not know what that parent said on page 2 about the school being hard on kids. I went to this school 2 years ago and they where hard on eny children at all. This is a great school and they follow the six pillers of character, respect, honesty, citizinship, responsibility and trustworthy. |
| 9/1/2007 | parent | My son is in the K-prep program and loves it. The teacher is fun and energetic. He is learning so much. He looks forward to going to school everyday. |
| 7/2/2007 | parent | I am so surprised by the negative feedback. This is one of the best schools in the city! The teachers and administrators truely care about the children, they offer wonderful programs and my kids have all benefited greatly from being there! We moved to the Gilbert School District because of it's reputation and we are not at all disappointed! This school deserves all 5 stars! |
| 8/21/2006 | parent | This is the most disappointing school I have ever encountered. The officials that work at this school pretend to take care of problems. They smile to your face just to get you out the door. Don't fall for what this school dishes out. My child has always received A's and B's but since attending Superstition Springs, his grades have fallen dramatically. I do not trust this school At All and will be Very happy when we move from this district! |
| 4/21/2006 | parent | Very nice, clean, happy teachers, leaves my daughter smiling everyday to attend. |
| 3/17/2006 | student | This is a very good school. My daughter's have been going to this school for 2 years. Tis is a great school! Very qualtiy school! |
| 2/17/2006 | parent | This school is very hard on children. At times almost cruely. |
| 1/14/2006 | parent | Both my children are Superstition Springs Elementary students, one in 6th and one in 4th. We have been blessed with the best teachers who work hard for the benefit of each child. One of my children has learning disabilities and we are overwhelmed with the support and extra help we have received. This school has done so much, more than we could have dreamed. The entire staff has compassionately given their time to listen, and help find solutions that will help him overcome his difficulties. Not only do we find the school to be great but the parents and students also make this school shine. Our school is like one big family. We all care about everyone. When you find a school that gives as much as ours, it's hard not to want to give back! I am currently the PTSO president and proud of it! |
| 8/23/2005 | parent | The academics are great however the homework level at grade five is a bit overwhelming to say the least. Our son has very little time between the end of the school day and his bed time to do anything but homework. Music and arts are plentiful but there is no sports program. The level of parent involvement is off the charts. I have never experienced this anywhere we have lived. |
| 6/27/2005 | parent | This is a great school with outstanding teachers that really care about our children's education. The ALP program is top notch. I am a parent with two children attending last year. |
| 7/2/2004 | parent | We have been very pleased with this school. The teachers are great, community is supportive. The administration has gone through some changes, but a new year and new principal are on the way. We are looking forward to another great year. |
| 5/21/2004 | parent | Love the A/R program - it's turned my son into a reading maniac! Wish the Gilbert School District concentrated more on phonics during the early grades. Overall, I've been very pleased with the school- everyone is very friendly and helpful. |
| 4/1/2004 | parent | Overall good teachers, most of them have been with the school for years. The ADK teacher is A+ and you won't find a better one! The principal has changed twice in 2 years and is going to change again for 2004-05 year, which I don't like. I have two children attending this school and they notice the administrative staff and health assistant isn't as friendly as a years past. Overall a good school and just as good or better than others in the area. |
| 8/6/2003 | parent | We moved into the area last year. The school seemed great to start with. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. the problems were with the teacher. My son has ADHD, and is very bright. He was completely unchallenged, and not allowed to move ahead because of his inability to stay quiet in his seat. The teacher was controlling and yelled at the children. The answer the principal had to solve this was,'The teacher is having some personal problems.' I never knew that there was a problem until the first report card came with all failing grades. This is my straight A student who was always in the gifted program. I wasn't told about any problems until then. I even called the teacher periodically to ask how my son was doing. Every time I got the answer that everything was going great. The principal seemed very helpful, but then nothing would come from it. This school is very good at keeping appearances up and covering up things that go on. |
| 4/28/2003 | | The teachers have been great thru the 3 years and are always willing to talk to a parent. |
| 3/28/2003 | | When we decided to move to Arizona, early 2002, placing our children in a top performing public education system in the greater Phoenix area was our main goal. In the state we moved from, unfortunately, we had already lived through 9 years of extremely poor performance - we never want to subject our children and ourselves to that miserable experience again! We are so pleased with out decision to locate in the Superstition Springs Elementary School and Highland High School K-12 school program. Every Child counts at Superstition Springs Elementary. The leadership appears to be focused on making a difference in the life of every child and helping each child understand the importance of education in their lives - this is a tremendous vision and in my opinion the most important element of any school program - what is the vision of the principle and teachers? Every aspect of the school flows from the vision of those in charge. We have appreciated Superstition Springs Elementary School working with us to help ensure a positive and challenging education experience for our children. They have been outstanding to work with and in all cases, have taken our issues seriously and worked with us in keeping our children on track academically. Compared to our past experiences, we cannot say enough good about Superstition Springs Elementary School. |
