| 12/28/2011 | parent | My daughter has attended NELA for 2 1/2 years now and I have seen her mature into not only a responsible young lady but one who is very self disciplined and interested in learning and her community/ and even world events. I believe NELA has fostered all that in her through their unique teaching methods, their encouragement for her to put forth only her best. There is a great student/teacher ratio and she always feels like she has someone to turn to for academic and even personal support. She not only looks forward to their national and international expeditions she comes back a changed person, more confident with herself and more comfortable with those around her. This school does require that each student apply themselves and be responsible productive community members of the school, and if they do- the payoff is fantastic! |
| 12/27/2011 | parent | NELA was a great high school for my son. He had been academically successful though out his previous years, but was often bored and got into trouble behaviorally. NELA kept him busy and challenged and gave him incredible experiences, like national and international travel, to work towards. Currently, he has laughed at the fact that other college students find it hard to write a 3 page paper a week for English class. He has mentioned that NELA definitely prepared him for writing college papers with ease. |
| 12/27/2011 | parent | NELA was a great fit for my son. He learned to write very well, debate with confidence and make excellent presentations. He developed wonderful friends and still stays in touch with them. His relationships with his teachers were close and caring. He was prepared for college and received a full tuition scholarship to a private college in Iowa for his scholarship and service record. He has made straight A's his first semester and adjusted to college well. He was more prepared than most of his peers. A great school! |
| 11/23/2011 | student | Where do I start??? I love this school so much, I have attended this school for 2 years and can not believe how much fun it has been. The teachers are always wonderful. They have created a safe environment to learn, interesting methods of teaching and have established great communication with both the parents and the students. Other great aspects of the school, are the traveling opportunities. They have kept me engaged and excited to learn more. I can honestly say this school is a gift and I recommend it to any student, looking for a more interactive, fun, safe and inspirational school |
| 2/15/2011 | student | I go to NELA and I absolutely love it there. The students are all amazing, the teachers really care for your grades, your leaning experience, and your success at Northpoint. Nela is like a big family away from home.. |
| 1/24/2011 | parent | Both of our sons that have attended Northpoint have received thousands of dollars worth of scholarships, an education that allows them to think, question and probe, and the opportunity to learn in out-of-classroom settings. I cannot recommend Northpoint highly enough. |
| 1/3/2011 | other | Northpoint is an exceptional school. I was once under the impression that it was a "new age" liberal school, but in my experience it is an innovative and incredibly effective way of learning. Students learn much more than they would at a traditional high school (such as Prescott High School), and end up being far better prepared for a college environment. I would recommend this school to almost all students. |
| 10/29/2010 | parent | EXCELLENT SCHOOL WITH COMMITTED TEACHERS. TEACHES STUDENTS ABOUT THE REAL WORLD. EXCELLENT REVIEW PROGRAM. STUDENTS LIKE HIGH SCHOOL WITH THIS TEACHING SYSTEM. |
| 10/12/2010 | parent | It is a great school that kids can learn a lot more real life related knowledge through experiences. And the kids who attend the Northpoint do love and enjoy the school very much! |
| 7/10/2010 | student | Before choosing to attend Northpoint I was under the impression that it was another "liberal Arts" type school that is mainly focused on modern issues, environmental sciences, and the arts. But instead I only found local politics, controversy, and Liberal fascism. I was extremely dissapointed with the curiculum particularly because one of the main reasons I chose Northpoint was for more of an art program, and they do have great art class and a great art teacher but it is only offered 2 semesters of 2 years. Despite the common stereotype that Northpoint opens all kinds with open minds and open hearts, from staff and students alike I found no such thing. I have no interest in targeting or naming names, but as far as Principal leadership there was much false accusations and narcissistic criticism towards the student body, and particular students, myself included. Northpoint made one hell of dropout. |
| 6/27/2010 | student | What can I say, fantastic. I have vocally hated school since kindergarten but now, as a freshman at NELA, I love it. Would you ever imagine a high school kid counting the days until summer vacation is OVER? I am. Not only are the teachers top-notch, the education method is perfect for me. We don't just memorize things so we can take a test and then forget, we really learn. I scored a perfect score on both the math and language arts portions of the AIMS test last year, I study quantum physics and computer programing in my free time, and, based on the standardized tests I've taken over the years, I am in the top 0.01 percent of all students IN THE COUNTRY. Even so, I find myself learning new things and improving every day here. Send your kids here if you want a great school. You won't regret it. |
| 11/25/2009 | student | I have been at Northpoint since freshmen year. Im currently a junior i feel that Northpoint is preparing me for my future. I dont think i would of become the person I am today if it wasn't for the school and teachers. I enjoy the community my school has built it might not be a big school but i feel that every student and teacher has a part at Northpoint. -Junior class of 2011- |
| 11/25/2009 | student | i am currently a sophomore at NELA and i feel that i can achieve my dreams here and succeed far in life. there are a couple students here at NELA that are not so pleased by the dress code and do not want to be seen with NELA. i feel confident and respected when i am seen with NELA. i enjoy all of my teachers and classes. people s ay that they hate the principal Geneva, when she does what she does to benefit us and our futures and i would like to say thank you to her and mrs.liddle and ms.reynolds for all of the stuff they do to help us out. well thanks to eveyone who helps keep NELA going. i cant wait to graduate form here and move on in life<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 go class of 2012 we rock.... yes mr haggerty i said rock jk lol love ya |
| 10/3/2009 | parent | I believe Morthpoint offers an excellent alternative to the 'standard' high school. Students get to travel and immerse themselves in current issues. My daughter loves it! |
| 9/16/2009 | other | It is a great environment with a really advanced and original teaching method. |
| 5/1/2009 | student | Last year, thanks to Northpoint, I sat in on a U of A class covering similar material to what I had been studying at my school. I felt like I was quite prepared academically, and was actually surprised at the lack of students contributing to the discussion. Northpoint is great! |
| 4/18/2009 | student | I have been attending Northpoint since my freshman year, and I am currently a junior. I am the person I am today because of what I have experienced at Northpoint, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I spent a short time at PHS in my freshman year, and although it is a good school, it was just not for me. I love that Northpoint embraces the fact that each student has different learning styles, and that we get to experience what we are learning in the classroom first-hand, out in the field. I am learning everything required by state standards, as my standardized test scores show, but I am also learning real world skills that I will be using my whole life. I am so glad this community and our school district gave Northpoint a chance three years ago, and I know it was a good decision. |
| 3/27/2009 | student | I am currently a junior at Northpoint. I love it. Never before have I been so invested in my own education. Northpoint has taught me how to be a good student and person. This school is a great fit for me. I am able to receive individualized attention from each of my teachers. We are constantly working on college preparation work. Students within the community are accepted for who they are. This school is amazing. I am very grateful I have the opportunity to attend it. |
| 3/26/2009 | student | I am a freshman at NELA and I hate it. Northpoint is not preparing me academically with basic reading, writing, math skills. Everyone hates the uniforms and everyone is embarressed to go out in public with them on. |
| 8/26/2008 | parent | Had to withdraw my child from this school. Lack of safety, structure. Wonderful that the school physically challenges the kids with expeditionary field trips. However, is not preparing them academically with basic reading, writing, math skills. Many of the kids attending here seem to be 'on the fringe', with behaviors that would not be tolerated in traditional school settings. |
| 5/4/2008 | parent | This school teaches so much more than just text book education. It's shows the students how to be successful adults. This school is amazing! |
| 1/11/2008 | parent | This is the first year one of my children has attended a high school. So far this year my child seems to be learning well. And attempting new things. |
