| 4/14/2010 | parent | As a pediatrician, I choose Canyon View Elementary for my kids! Outstanding experience for kids! Engaged and committed staff that teach to each child's level. Extended math and reading opportunities allow for kids to develop socially with kids their own age while learning at an advanced pace. We entertained Ventana Vista Elementary, but opted to keep our daughter at Canyon View considering how happy she is learning and growing in this ideal nurturing environment. |
| 10/29/2009 | parent | The teachers at Canyon View are experienced, dedicated and involved. Well-rounded curriculum, student exposure to experiences beyond the regular classroom and an involved community make this a wonderful school. |
| 4/5/2009 | parent | Wonderful principal, experienced caring teachers, involved families. My children love their teachers, the science assemblies they have every month, community garden, science club. |
| 9/2/2008 | parent | Excellent teachers, nice campus |
| 5/13/2008 | parent | a) Marta Gunderson is an excellent principal. This is her first year in the school and she seems to know many if not most of the kids by name. Teachers seem to really like her. I often see her talking to the students and many students come up to her with hugs and seem to feel very comfortable in her presence. Science and math curriculum are being revised and those subjects will be emphasized next year. |
| 11/2/2007 | parent | Canyon View Elementary has a long history of excellence, especially under the leadership of Mr. Ahearn who knew every single student's name. Last year's Principal couldn't compare and the jury is out on the new Principal. Best Band program anywhere, and unique Steel Drum Band opportunity for the kids, with the incredible dedication of Mr. Cox. Great teachers overall (there's always 1 or 2 that you hope your children won't get). Lots of parental involvement although the FFO tends to be on the cliquish side. The past problems of too much homework seems to have been corrected. All in all, a terrific place to get your child off on the right foot for a great education. |
| 5/18/2007 | parent | Canyon View used to be a great school. Unfortunately it is going through a lot changes and not for the better. It is sad to see a school you loved change so drastically. Many of the faculty, staff, and parents are unhappy. The new principal, while a great person, is a poor fit for Canyon View and she is far more an administrator than a true principal. This is her first year as principal and it shows. Big changes are in the works for the upcoming years included no longer grouping children by learning rate. Children will be forced to stay in the same classroom for the entire day (except for specials) which is a huge change for Canyon View. The one positive is that Canyon View still has the best teachers in the business and hopefully they will stay through all the turmoil. |
| 9/30/2005 | parent | Excellent teachers and staff! |
| 6/3/2005 | teacher | The school is wonderful. Teachers really care about the students and are highly trained. Music and art is still taught by specialists brought in to the school (unlike most schools in the area). Parents are very involoved and often volunteer. 20 to 1 ratio is in all 1-3 grade classes. Test scores are outstanding. Teachers fight to work at this school. |
| 6/3/2005 | parent | Having been an insider for many years to dozens of schools, I would rate CV tops in parent involvement. I don't believe that academiclly cv (or this district) is so superior when compared to schools in other regions/states |
| 3/27/2003 | | This is an incredible place with a dedicated staff. My family lives where we do because of Canyon View Elementary School. |
