| 7/19/2012 | parent | Immaculate Heart gives my family a sense of community as well as a well rounded education for our children. We have been part of the IHS family since 2007 and have 2 children at the school. The overall state of the economy and new charter school openings in the area have resulted in decreased admissions but I'm still confident in the education my children are receiving at IHS. Test scores don't lie. If you view the ITBS scores on the school website under Academics, you will see that IHS is preparing our children well. The school provides Apple computer labs and Smart Boards in every classroom and the Middle School has an Award Winning Science program!! The Sisters and faculty also provide a religious education that is so intimate, I can't imagine a better place for my children to learn about love, kindness, discipline and morals. And yes, the school is not run by the diocese and has been around since 1930 - with no financial assistance from a parish or the diocese. I would say that is pretty impressive. I learned about this site from someone that mentioned they had read negative reviews and I couldn't understand why - I felt it was time for me to share my positive experience! |
| 7/17/2012 | parent | IHS is a wonderful school for our whole family. As a parent and active volunteer at IHS for several years I find the negative comments very unfortunate. We are all going to have different experiences no matter what school our children attend. We all have the right to choose based on individual family situations. Families are pulling out of private schools all over the country due to the economic situation in the US. Families are moving out of state for jobs. Teachers retired, some accepted other positions. families moved out of state, CTSO giving is down and there is less money to help families who need assistance. Some private schools have already closed down due to low enrollment. The last post mentions that is is a "little scary" with the Sisters running the school . . . we are talking about the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!!! They give all of themselves to our school, our children, families and faculty. The Sisters and faculty enrich our Catholic values of love, charity, forgiveness, kindness and compassion which are in keeping with Jesus' ministry. Throw in some fantastic and challenging academics and loving teachers and you have Immaculate Heart .Peace |
| 7/4/2012 | other | Please remember this school is not run by the diocese. It's completely private. The diocese only oversee's the curriculum and accredidation. Saying that.......the sisters literally can do anything they want. This makes it a little scary. I would definitely recommend a catholic school that is run by the diocese. This way....if any issues arise, you have someone to hear you out. Also, knowing that the diocese will correct issues that they feel are wrong. At Immaculate heart, issues are carefully tucked under the rug....just be aware. |

| 7/3/2012 | parent | Hmmm. Interesting and a little suspicious. A coworker steered me to this site which I did not know existed. Not very many reviews appeared until a few not so favorable reviews appeared (some were even removed). It is almost as though someone is soliciting positive reviews to defend the less favorable ones and boost the rating. My review was not solicited. I have been disappointed in the education provided and the unhealthy caddiness of some parents for the last few years. When I heard about so many people leaving, I began asking questions. Several parents shared my concerns about the decline of the school. Some said they shared their concerns with school leaders, but nothing was done. I want a true religious education for my child where Catholic values are shared and demanded from everyone students, parents, and school volunteers and leaders. That environment does not exist here. We are not returning. |
| 6/25/2012 | parent | Having relocated in the middle of the school year from out of state, we joined the IHS community and were welcomed by everyone with open arms. The one thing that really stands out about IHS, is the education and the process in which the children receive it. Parents who pay attention and are involved can not miss the verbal and written ques that the teachers pass on to them. The communication is there. Aside from education, the warmth of the Sisters, teachers, staff are an excellent representation of our faith. We found that the parents were helpful and welcoming. If you want your children in a loving, safe enviornment, where they will get a good education - this is the school for you. |
| 6/18/2012 | parent | The enrollment is down, way down. I think the whole envioroment, including all 3-IHS'S, needs an overhaul! Run down facilities, drive by it - PLEASE! They do not have any funds to up-keep anything! Education is a F -F - in my opinion, pulled my child out! #1 unhappy family. They lack every where you want attention! |
| 6/17/2012 | parent | As parents that are humbly trying to raise our children in the Lord's influence, we were disappointed to see negative posts regarding Immaculate Heart School. Our children have been at IHS since 2007. We value the education, spirit, love and kindness provided to our family at IHS. These characteristics are palpable as you walk around campus. Hearing the children sing and pray during morning prayer still touches us after several years of being with the school. Negative comments posted have us confused. One post suggested technical issues, yet the kids are getting iPADs and a new computer lab with Apple computers. The electronic white boards are state of the art. Another complained about teachers and staff who, in our experience, remain professional, fully qualified and competent. When our children have struggled in their studies, administration and staff were there to help. We find the curriculum well rounded and challenging for our children. Our children are safe in the care of the Sisters who love them. They are encouraged in every way to grow spiritually and intellectually. The school supports our efforts in trying to raise a successful future. |
| 6/17/2012 | parent | This is the second Catholic school that my kids have attended and it will be their last. The school really does have a "family" structure. Most parents know the kids in their children's grade and their parents. I feel completely safe sending them to school each day. Knowing that my kids are not in overcrowded classes and are around caring teachers that have a genuine concern for their well beinggives me peace of mind and makes the tuition worth it. I never thought that I'd send my children to a Catholic School but I could tell the difference it made when my kids were doing the same work as our friends kids that are in public school...and they are two grades ahead. The principal is also well respected and very approachable and I'm almost 100% sure that she knows every child's name at the school by memory. What other principal can say that? |

The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart are the cornerstone of our school, and provide both faculty and families a positive working and learning environment. As a teacher, I feel the small class sizes enable me to meet the needs of different levels of learners. Current technology, strong curriculum development in Math, and teacher collaboration are just a few examples that provide many opportunities to enhance my job performance. We nurture our children through a strong and loving Catholic foundation that is present in every element of our school setting. Our school community fosters an environment where parents actively participate in various ways to support our school.. As in all schools we experience change, with teachers retiring, and some relocating for family reasons. Our community embraces the change and looks forward to continuing to serve the needs of our families. I would highly recommend Immaculate Heart Academy for families looking for a school setting based on traditional Catholic values, and a high level of academic expectations. |
| 6/14/2012 | parent | Our 4 children have been enrolled in Immaculate Heart Schools since 2003 and I can't imagine them being anywhere else. The sense of "family" in the school community is so warm and welcoming, and the presence of the Sisters is priceless. My kids have benefited from strong academics, including stringent ITBS testing, Christian-based competitive athletics, Accelerated Reading, an unbelievable art program, band, choir, and this year, my daughter's class received IPads. The availability of CTSO funds and AZ tax credits also helps reduce tuition costs, which are competitive and affordable regardless. Immaculate Heart services the entire child -- academically, emotionally, spiritually. Sacrament preparation is also outstanding. To anyone looking for a home, not just a school... I cannot recommend Immaculate Heart strongly enough! |

| 6/10/2012 | parent | This is not a bad school, but I am worried about its current decline. Several good teachers are leaving. Several good students are leaving. I am not sure what the school plans to do to recover and to positively distinguish itself from other area schools, and there is minimal communication regarding the current situation. Administrative priorities seem to be misaligned. Some parents and volunteers display classless behavior, but most are hard-working and supportive. The curriculum is average, but enrichment for advanced students is not encouraged. Also, if your child struggles, prepare to get tutoring. Some teachers will bend over backward for students and provide extra educational challenges or special attention and support where needed. Others will not. My husband and I are considering removing our children to find a more stable educational environment. We understand that all schools and educational systems have issues. We also know that everyone s situation and needs are different. Do your own research and make your decision based on your needs, values, and expectations, not the opinions stated on this site. |

The office staff is always helpful and kind. I would highly recommend this school to anyone, especially someone wanting their kids to have a great academic experience while growing in their faith. |

We care about the children we serve and are teaching at a Catholic school because we love what we do, not because we are looking for financial perks. What we do is a ministry, and I am willing to make some sacrifices to pass on our faith with a solid academic curriculum. I could always work somewhere else, but I choose to stay because I believe in the school's mission. The children at Immaculate Heart know that they are in a safe environment with adults that care about their academic, spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs. |

She is learning more than she did in public schools and wants to stay at the after school program because she loves it so much here. The principal, Mrs. Cufari is amazing with the kids, compassionate and has a loving heart. The only thing we would have changed was to start both our kids here before trying public schools. |

If your child has any of these your child will not do well at this school and they will tell you that they don't have to help them. |
| 5/22/2006 | parent | We recently moved from out of state and selected thie school because of its high ratings.The reading, literature and english classes are excellent and are more advanced the our other school. Both of my chidren state that the mathematics and science classes are not as advanced. Music, art and the sports programs are what you would expect from a catholic school. The atmosphere is very warm and there is a high parent involvement. We have been extremelly pleased with this school and would highly recommend it to any one. |
