9/19/2012parentWe were completely underwhelmed with The Anthony School, despite many of our friends loving it. The pre-K program was pitiful considering how expensive it is - the quiet kids were ignored while problem children were dealt with, and they just colored dorky worksheets printed off the internet. The leadership at the school is a joke - the head of the school doesn't know the kids, the kids don't know her, and her only interest is in making sure the school appears great and keeps money coming in - she takes no responsibility for the happiness, welfare, or safety of the children there. The parent involvement is pretty dysfunctional - there is definitely not a feeling that a cohesive PTA works together to ensure the success of the school. My elementary school child has a very sweet teacher, but the academics were outdated and too much learning was expected to happen with homework.
8/5/2012parentWe relied on the glowing reviews we read on this website to help us make the decision to enroll our daughter in middle school when we moved from the West Coast which is why I am choosing to put in my own 2 cents. Unfortunately, we did not have the experience we read about and hoped for. This school is very cliquey. Queen bees and wannabes with both students and parents abound so if you aren't "that type" forget it. The education is nothing more than we received in a public school back home but you can't expect too much here in Little Rock - which is why there is such a huge home school community. The administration and teachers are very nice and I believe they do the best they can but it is a very small school and chooses to teach to the average student. If you have an above-average child, there are no honors or pull-out classes for them. We did not feel it was worth the money and left after 2 years.
10/17/2011parentWhen our daughters first transferred to Anthony from a public school, my wife and I were apprehensive because they both had to move down a grade to get the right academic fit. Now, four years later, all earlier doubts are ancient history. The students at Anthony get a great education, of course, but they also get much more than that - mutual respect among students and faculty, a caring environment, and a can-do attitude. The experience our children are getting at Anthony is worth way more than the cost of tuition.
9/5/2011parentMy sons started here at the preK 3 and preK 4 level and are now in kindergarten and 1st grade. We love this school! The teachers are fantastic, they are all very enthusiastic about teaching and take time to get to know the kids as individuals. When I walk down the hallway with my kids, everyone (from the principal to the janitors to the older kids) knows their names and says hello. My older son is very shy and has a speech delay, but he couldn't be in a better, more supportive environment. His speech and confidence has improved so much since starting here. The curriculum is challenging, but they make sure the kids have fun. The whole school is very organized (they send automated calls out to all parents if there's a snow day, you get regular e-mail updates). The lunch program is fantastic. Financially, sending our kids here is a stretch, but I really believe it is worth it.
5/2/2011parentThe school, while obviously focusing on a challenging academic program, seems to have done so while creating an atmosphere of mutual respect, fun and warmth. I have never been part of a school where the children have been so happy to return each day. I thank their teachers, the staff and the amazing parent volunteers for providing this kind of home for my children.
4/18/2011parentBest school EVER!!! We have relocated several times, including overseas to outrageously expensive international schools, and Anthony has been one of the best! We miss this school, the dedicated teachers, and the wonderfully involved parents at this school. This school focuses on what's important, and the kids learn at an amazing pace. Roxanne Cousins
3/12/2009parentI have had my children at the Anthony School for 2 years and I cannot say enough about the faculty, teachers, and the curriculum that the Anthony school offers. I am a native of NJ where the public schools are some of the best in the nation and my family consists of teachers and principals so I knew what I was looking for when I went searching for a school for my kids. I must say that the Anthony School's curriculum and sense of core values are above and beyond anything I've seen anywhere. The children are given every opportunity to grow, learn and succed in a family-like loving, nurturing environment. They really prepare your children academically, socially and offer them all they will need to succeed in the future. If you're looking for the best, look no further.
2/19/2009otherThe Anthony School has an incredibly diverse student body, and the teachers/staff cover a wide range of ages, interests, and personalities. Yet somehow everyone treats each other like family and feels like family. The students are actively learning on a variety of levels, and are having a great time doing it! They are happy and enthusiastic, safe and secure. It is a great environment for students and faculty alike!
2/18/2009parentI have experienced many K-8 grade schools due to various relocations and nowhere is there a better group of teachers or administrators. I have one child who is a graduate of TAS and one currently enrolled. TAS not only encourages students to excel to their highest academic potential but they truly care for your children. A good school is not only about test scores but also about the total wellness of the child. The children attending TAS are not only leaps and bounds ahead of students from other schools academically; they leap and bound into school each day because they are also happy to be there!
1/13/2007parentWow! If you are from out of state looking for a school that is competitive with the best Northeast and Midwest schools this is it! The Anthony School is a haven of intellectual and forward thinking faculty in the heart of the deep south.
2/10/2005parentEvery time I walk through the doors of The Anthony School I think 'this is a GREAT school.' The school building is beautiful and well maintained; the teachers are very competent, radiant, and loving; all first and second graders are taught violin, plus a regular music class; the art class is more than crafts - they study great artists, styles, structure; great playground; wonderful PE instructor everyday; high test scores; the kids are all nice and excited to learn; the student body is very diverse; there is a basketball team, soccer team, running club; everyone is helped to excel; the parents are very involved; and the school has great communication with parents through its weekly newsletter and website. I can't imagine a better environment for a child to learn, and I am thrilled my child is able to attend The Anthony School.
8/25/2004parentExcellent! We have lived in 3 states and were just constantly impressed with the organization, class ratios, personal attention and devotion to the students from the teachers. Can't say enough good things. The kids love the school.
4/19/2004parentGreat School. My daughter has gone here for 5 years now. My son is starting the 3 yr old class in August. Above average test scores.
