| 6/6/2012 | other | I am a student at Mountain View Middle School, currently in eighth grade!I just want to say that MVMS is a terrific school to go to! The curriculum is hard but doable! I have a had straight A's for the past 3 years and have gotten 600 on my math CST'S. That is all thanks to my wonderful teachers! Our school staff trys so hard to make us happy and make the school enviroment as fun as possible, and I think they succeeded. Even though MVMS has had its ups and downs I still believe the ups have a high more efficiency than the downs!Everybody from MVMS has encouraged me and I think im finally ready to step into the world you call highschool! Have a great summer! GO COUGARS!!!! |

| 7/17/2011 | parent | My "A & B" student started getting "F's". When I asked my child, I was told the teacher didn't make it fun, or easy. This was in math and my child was all "A's" in math until then. Plus she got a score of 384 (Proficient) in a range of 350-413 on the STAR test in Math. I don't know if my child was a bit inmature but my childs birthday is in Sept. so they are one of the oldest in the grade of students. Either way, I got letters about Mtn. View being a "Failing School" but since both middle schools here in Beaumont there was no chance on moving my child. As for the PE coach's - they are wonderful! The after school program (ASES) is wonderful. The tutoring in the library is super too - when they can get teachers to fill the slots. Either way - get on Parent Connect and stay on top of your child AND the teachers. Make sure your child does all their class work and homework - utilize the Homework Calendars the teachers provide. Be involved. The 3 years will go by fast - but make sure good study habits are firmly in place before High School or it will be harder to keep up. Good luck! |
| 4/16/2011 | parent | My daughter has attended Mountain View for two years and has made straight "A's" every quarter. The teachers are excellent and are preparing the students very well. To you parents who are complaining about your child's grades: Get involved! Sign up for Parent Connect! Your child is YOUR business and you are the one who needs to get more involved. Stop sitting back and blaming the teachers. |
| 3/30/2010 | parent | I had the same problem with this school. There was no support for my child. Teachers issued F's without advocating and finding solutions for the children. What is their future going to be like? Fortunate I was able to afford to put my child in one of the best private schools where she is doing so much better |
| 11/4/2009 | student | Im currently a 8th grade and this school is amazing its fun and U learn stuff |
| 9/7/2009 | other | I am now a freshman at BHS and have fully realized how much I liked Mountain View. The electives are a bit lacking, although I'm sure that is due mostly to the budget cuts. This school isn't packed like the high school is, and the teachers seem to actually take an interest in the students and their abilities. I think the teachers and staff are doing a good job in keeping this school enjoyable. |
| 5/5/2009 | student | im a student at mountain view middleschool in 8th grade.mountain view middleschool is a very well school. there band program does everything for us and they even tryed to fundraise money for us to go to disneyland which is alot of money but we had accomplished it. for mountainviews academic is better than any school i know because they try to encourage all of us as best as they can to make shure we have great grades so mountain view is the best school. also all of the teachers are so kind and loveable so you couldnt pick a better school then ours. Go Cougars!!!!!!!!!! |
| 4/1/2008 | student | I have attended Mountain View Middle School for almost three years. While there, I've learned that the school's academic programs are below average and there are very few electives and sports available for the students. My class mates have proven themselves amiable and that is one of the only things I enjoy about this particular school. In addition, the band program is utterly appalling and could be so much more. |
| 3/30/2008 | student | I feel so confined because I don't have the chance to make use of my abilities; there are so little electives that students can choose from. It is as if the teachers here do not realize that the students can do much more than expected of them, causing a less than inspiring motivation for students to do their best in their work. |
| 2/27/2008 | parent | Although the student pick up issue has not been resolved yet I have great respect for the principle in the ability to go the extra distance to resolve problems and not just brush matters off. Students seem to get along well with each other |
| 12/15/2007 | student | GREAT school! respectful kids, kind teachers, and awesome education! |
| 5/4/2007 | parent | Student drop off and pick up is a major safety issue at this school. This is my childs first year and next year I will have to make some hard decisions. |
| 6/23/2006 | student | This school does not emphasize safety and discipline. It also does not offer much extra curricular activities. Students are not ecouraged to be pushed to their limit. Some teacheres do not even even really make their students learn, but only give them loads of homework or classwork to do. The staff of this school should really do something about their students' physical and academic behavior. |
| 2/6/2006 | parent | Mountain View has a rigorous academic program. The Language Arts curriculum with a strong emphasis on vocabulary development with Greek and Latin roots, essay writing, reading comprehension, meeting state standards, and preparing the students to pass their CAHSEE tests in high school makes this school one of the top middle schools in the Inland Empire. The math department is one of the best around with students taking high level math courses. The other disciplines are just as rigorous. The needs of all students are met - from struggling learners to gifted, there are programs for all. The teachers are amazing - caring, devoted, with high expectations for their students. They go above and beyond the call of duty. There is so much for my child to do in this friendly safe environment. I'm so grateful my child has the opportunity to attend this school. She loves it! |
| 11/14/2005 | parent | My child will be removed from the school shortly. Too many issues involving 'gang realted behaviors' has created an atmosphere where education and talk about school work has become secondary, to 'just getting through the day without being intimidated, pressured, threatened and generally harrassed'. Too difficult a place to focus on learning. She is an A student and we're not going to loose her to this. |
| 9/30/2005 | student | There arn't many extracurricular activities. All they have is art, drama, computers, yearbook, and basketball. Basketball is the only sport they have there. The teachers teach very well and the principles are great. The only problem is they are not very cauious about the safty. At the time being they only have two securities. There are about 800 students at that school so you get the point. |
| 7/5/2005 | parent | Great school. My children like it a lot. |
| 4/12/2004 | parent | Higher performing students can end up getting overlooked by teachers focusing more on the underperforming studens - not enough honors/advanced courses for higher performing kids - criteria for honors English is ridiculously narrow. Extracurricular activities also seem to be a bit sporadic. |
