| 5/25/2012 | parent | I have two children at this school and after reading the previous reviews felt compelled to submit my opinion. I enrolled my son into Cornerstone two years ago from Country Springs Elementary (public) where he was being left behind and unfairly labeled as "slow" to which retention seems to be the favoured method of treatment. My son did not need retaining, just good old fashioned proper teaching and support. He received both by the bucket load at Cornerstone. His confidence and end of year state test results soared! Thank you Mrs. Alvarez! On the strength of this we went ahead and enrolled our daughter the following year and are incredibly happy with the standard of education and care she has had in first grade. The proof is in the pudding! |
| 2/22/2012 | parent | This school focuses to much on partys and shows which I feel takes away from academia. Recently at a school function for grandparents they wanted to encourage everyone to keep their kids there and said if you put your kids in public school "they will learn about gay people". Unless your kids live in a bubble that will happen anyways. Apparently the school is struggling to stay open and regulary ask for donations and they try to pull on your heart strings by informing you how some of the teachers and staff don't get paid or have to hold onto the checks. The playground does seem to need some work along with the inside of some of the portables. I will say the teachers do seem to care alot about the students but they alone can only do so much. My daughter is just going to finish the school year and I will transfer for next year along with alot of other parents I have spoken with. |
| 2/14/2012 | other | I have only good to say about Cornerstone! The previous post sounds like a very disgruntled unhappy person to me. I have NEVER seen anything like she describes. There are computers in all the Elementary classrooms and Day Care is AWESOME! As with any unnamed review, you have to look between the lines and at the rest of the reviews to get a real picture. The Principal is amazing and loves the kids (and we parents!). I highly recommend this school. |
| 3/26/2011 | parent | I have been a part of Cornerstone since it first began in 1980. My grown children attended there, I worked there for 11 years myself, and I currently have a child and a grandchild attending. It is a truly unique place because everything the staff does is centered in Christ. Children are genuinely loved and have all of their needs, academic, social, emotional, and spiritual met in a deeply nurturing environment. Class size is great, academic standards are high, and rates are kept as low as possible. I highly recomment this special school to everyone! |
| 3/26/2011 | parent | My daughter has been attending Cornerstone for 4 years, and is now in the 5th grade. She loves it there, and so do we! The teacher-student ration is wonderful, and the school has a very warm and loving atmosphere, while at the same time challenging the students academically. We could not reccomend Cornserstone more highly! |
| 8/30/2008 | parent | I have to echo the sentiments expressed that the family atmosphere, affordability and low student to teacher ratio makes this school a real gem. I referred several friends to the preschool and everyone had a positive first school experience. Their pre-school prepares children well for Kindergarten- emotionally, socially, and academically and spiritually- for significantly less money than other Christian preschools in the area. The campus is not the newest or fanciest, and I know that this is a negative for some parents, but not for me. I thank God we found this school and pray they will continue to be here in our community for a long time! God bless you all. |
| 8/29/2008 | parent | Great school. I felt the staff genuinely cared about each individual student. Most of the teachers new the names of all the children in the school not just their own class. My child enjoyed going to school and academically excelled. Chapel every week and biblical instruction. The only thing that I would say could use improvement is the playground. Its old and there is not much to play on, although the tuition is very affordable. They would probably have to raise the tuition to make improvements. |
| 8/22/2008 | parent | An incredible school with a family atmosphere. Teachers and staff actually care about and love your children while giving them a solid academic education. Absolutely THE best investment I've ever made. |
| 3/17/2007 | parent | An absolutely phenomenal school. The price is much cheaper than other schools in the area. Small class size and the teachers are great. Wonderful Christ-centered education with a staff that really cares about each and every one of the children. A highly involved and very accessible principal. Just an great school all around! |
| 1/3/2007 | parent | Very small student to teacher ratio. ABECA curriculum is used. Love the fact that small, close knit family like school community is encouraged and established. All children seem to know eachother and actually like eachother. Great eduation, great programs, good price, excellent christian foundation taught as well. Overall Wonderful school! |
| 3/16/2005 | parent | Wonderful staff! Teachers are all strong, caring, and creative. The education my child is getting here is the best. |
